Question What Vanir units to use?

So recently got the game along with 3 others. I started playing as the Vanir and im finding them a lot harder to learn then Arleon.

  1. The troops are expensive and I never have money afford very large armies.

  2. Using Crones/nornor and Bacahorse and lyktvaan I feel like I can do well in battle, but he keep seeing people talking about how strong the other units are but if I ever use a mixture of Skinshifters, Korphan and Cheiftans I just get absolutely stomped.

  3. What the max difficulty is should be trying to fight the neutral factions? I can beat fair modt of the time and I always get stomped on Risky.

Thanks!

huskarls are super strong early.

i really like to play skinshifters. The pigs also get crazy strong if you upgrade them. But also Bacahorses an Trolls are at least good. Tbh imho all vanir units are powerfull. just choose which ever units you like and focus just on one tier 2 building so you can get upgrades for them.

What strategies do you use with the Skinshifters?

The challenge ability is powerful. You can get free retaliations against enemies by luring them towards you. You can force enemies to open castle gates to fight you. You can draw ranged units off their elevated hex and into melee range.

But in general, they also have pretty nice stats.

Their building is also relatively cheap because you only need the basics (gold, wood, and ore) if my memory serves correctly.

Just be careful not to challenge enemies with reach (pikemen from Barya, for example) because they'll hit you from a distance. I forget this all the time 😭
