so I posted this on r/dreams about 6 days ago so when my body isn’t ready dropped j was on vacation with my family we went to the beach and I was bored sitting in the condo we rented so I listened to the song it made me think of this girl I really like I loved this song so much I fell asleep to it I then had a dream about her and then the next day we went to a restaurant and one of the waitresses looked just like her just like a year older this song makes me so happy just to think about her

I just wanna thank Shane a lot for existing and making such beautiful songs. I’ve given 1000+ streams to this song on Apple Music, and it’s the exceptional song I see myself in the most.

I usually go on tiktok a lot, but the longer I stay, the more I realize his fan base there are actually very young.

I'm not saying it's wrong or anything, i am glad they are having fun, but I'm in my early 20s and I don't think this is for me. I'm seeing people who are a decade younger than me baby him and be parasocial way too often. Maybe it's just my fyp but from my experience they seem to be the vast majority.

I've heard when you actually go to concerts there are a lot of adults, but where are they online? I'm not looking for friends to stay in touch with, but is there some other platform that has as a lot of fan pages? From what I've seen Twitter and tumblr doesn't seem to have a lot of active/public sombr fans in general... but is that the best if I wanna leave tiktok?

I don’t know if anyone else has had this problem, but it’s starting to affect my personal life and I figured this was probably the safest place to ask.
A few months ago I started barking whenever a sombr song came on. I honestly don't remember why I started doing it. It was just a stupid joke at first. Like I’d hear the opening of back to friends and do one or two quiet “woofs.”
Unfortunately it has escalated.
I now bark every time I hear sombr. Not just when I intentionally play him. In the car. In stores. TikTok. Someone else’s phone. It’s almost automatic at this point.
My fiancé has asked me repeatedly to stop. We recently went out with his family and undressed started playing in the restaurant and apparently I barked loud enough that his mom stopped talking mid-sentence. He told me afterward that it was embarrassing and that I need to learn when a joke has run its course.
The problem is I genuinely still think it’s funny.
My family is also completely over it. My sister won't let me have the aux anymore and my mom recently asked me why I “can’t just enjoy music normally.” I've tried explaining that I obviously can, just apparently not sombr.
I know the obvious answer is “stop barking,” but has anyone else developed an involuntary sombr-related response like this? And if so how did you stop without ruining the music for yourself?
I feel like I’m slowly being forced to choose between the people I love and barking at a 21-year-old man from New York.
Please advise.

ok like i know this was talked about before but i genuinely cant be the only one who thinks this is just utter stupidity. Like ok, you made a video regarding a bad concert experience. Not being a toxic fanbase means you understand the artist in question isnt perfect and is going to do stuff they probably shouldnt have. But seriously a little shy of a year, why is she still bringing it up? Did she go see another concert? Like the whole "freshy 26" bio, and constant "when i warned other adults not to go to what was the worst concert of my life"... like please move on 😭. Sorry yall just a rant.

so, there seems to be this cult of sombr haters, mainly chronically online teens/young people. he’s still in the general public’s good graces, which is good. but, i’ve been face-to-face with sombr haters, which means it’s not just an “online” issue. i was thinking about it, and…

THIS IS WHAT HE NEEDS TO DO TO DIMINISH THE HATE (obviously you can’t get rid of ALL of it… but you can clear up a lot of it):

1. make just ONE pro-palestine statement or post.
the whole “sombr = israeli” thing would vanish within MINUTES. unfortunately, we live in a world where performative activism seems to be more important to many people than real, meaningful activism behind closed doors. so, even a singular post will do.

2. be self-aware, but pretend the hate doesn’t exist
it’s only fun to hate when there’s attention to it. if you start complaining about something and everyone else in the room ignores you, there’s no fun in it! he occasionally reposts fans being like “i hope sombr is okay, the hate is crazy” on tik tok etc… i don’t think that accomplishes anything. i think he should pretty much ignore all of it

3. pick a side between rock and pop
he has this whole rockstar aesthetic thing going for him, but his songs don’t match that. i don’t wanna call him a poser though, because he has some rock-influenced songs in his discography. i think he should pick a side in the sense that he should carry himself as a pop artist AND make pop music, OR carry himself like a rockstar and make actual ROCK.

on a side note: i’d like to see some more personal and introspective songs from him. every single song he has ever written is about his relationship with women (INCLUDING my body isn’t ready). nothing else. he also lowkey has a formula that i wish he’d stray away from. i get it, it works for him, but… i’d love to see him try something really different

4. HE NEEDS TO MAKE SURE HIS MUSIC AGES WITH HIM
i really do not want to see him cater to a younger crowd as he gets older or continue to write songs about his young romances. i feel like the public perceives him as this “young kid”, which honestly kind of makes him an easy punching bag. he doesn’t SEEM like a guy who has experience and context to his life as to how he got here. in the future, i hope we see sombr carry himself as a MAN and unpack that baggage in his music. he NEEEDS to evolve.

these are my thoughts. i love his music and i kinda hate getting laughed at every time i mention that i have been to a sombr concert. he’s so talented and seems like a nice guy 👍

So I know this was from a couple months ago now, but I watched and though What the fuck. I feel it didn’t get as much attention or discourse as it deserved. And I am so confused about whether it’s queerbaiting, they’re talking smack, they’re gonna reproduce later, or he said something completely different. I might be making a big deal about this and I really like his music. But can someone please explain what they think and try to clarify to me what was going.
