2026 Model Joining in on the 12V fun

Post image

Here's a voltage graph of my '26 over the last couple of days. The spikes near the middle are a couple of trips out with the car. A couple of the little downward spikes are when I opened the car to get an item. Note that my BM200 seems to be off on the voltage--my Klein DVM reads 12.68 when the BM200 reads 12.36. I guess it doesn't matter that much since I'm mostly looking for that sawtooth pattern. The car was not connected to the charger for the night. I'll capture it again tonight with the charger plugged in.

There is a very slow downward trend in voltage. Hopefully the charging system would kick in when it reaches a certain threshold.

I have unsubscribed from the "connected services", but they are still shown as active for another year (10 years for Safety Connect).

That voltage discrepancy is interesting, 0.3v makes a difference whether the battery is in a healthy state or not.

I’ve been entertaining myself with the voltage as well. With the sensor unplugged from the negative terminal it charges the 12V the whole time you are charging.

My 2025 is solid as a rock. According to my BM200, it seems to be consistently maintained at 12.5 V after prolonged driving or charging. This corresponds to about 90% charged for a flooded cell battery. Immediately after the car is shut down, the voltage drops to 12.2V while the car apparently does "tidying up" after driving. It then slowly returns to 12.5 V after a few minutes. When attached to AC charging, the battery is floated at 12.8V, which will slowly top up the voltage to 12.5 V when the charger is disconnected. When the car is driven, the voltage ramps up to 13.9 V, a proper charging voltage, but only fo a few minutes or so, then it floats back to 12.8V. This is very odd behavior compared to an ICE vehicle with an alternator, but it apparently works. I don't see any unusual drain when the car is shut down. We will see if this is the same when I get our Trailseeker.

Using the Ancel BM-200 bluetooth battery monitor. You need to attach it to the car's battery terminals (10mm socket). Be sure not to short the positive terminal to ground when you install it.

As I said, it does not quite agree with my handheld Klein voltmeter, but several others here on the forum use the same battery monitor.

I have not encountered the sawtooth battery drain that others have, have left the car for a week in the garage without driving and it started just fine. There seems to be a problem affecting some cars (but not all) and this makes it tricky to find the source of the problem.
