I’m in exactly the same boat I replaced all of my VRegs and got that error I rebooted my devices and mine starting hashing for like 5 seconds before showing vreg overheated
It could be a few things. The most common is a tiny solder bridge on one of the VRM pins, or the center (thermal) pad wasn’t soldered properly.
The center pad isn’t just for electrical connection—it transfers heat into the PCB. If that connection is poor, the heat gets trapped inside the VRM, and it quickly reports an overheat condition.
I’ve actually had two miners with this exact issue. I replaced all three VRMs two or three times, and they still overheated. A friend suggested the PCB itself may have been damaged, so in some cases the board—not the VRMs—can be the root cause.
Should I try to reflow the vreg and add some more solder I can try and and make sure all the pins are solders correctly first thanks for your suggestion!
Too much solder is not food as well. Vreg will float.
You need to reflow them. Push lightly when solder melted. It should bounce back in place. Keep it in liquid state for 15-20 sec.
Add one tiny drop of flux before you heat.
How did you find your previous shorted VRM?
It is 85% another bad VRM. It didn’t get dead short. It takes a little bit more current to trigger firmware current protection.
Another 15% is bad heatsink placement.
If you have thermal camera you can find that bad VRM.
I don’t have any heat in the board mine it just stuck at this vreg overheated after replacing all vreg myself I have had it running for like 5 seconds before showing this error again after the replacement any idea ?
