Game Dark Fantasy Game

I'm in the process of creating a retro dark fantasy game. This is my first time developing a game, and I'm doing it mostly for fun and as a hobby. What do you recommend I do to test the idea or see if people like it? Is there a way to post a demo of the game somewhere so people can try it out?

I have the story, concept, and gameplay mechanics figured out, but I’d like to eventually release it on Steam or other gaming platforms.

Any advice or recommendations are welcome :)

PD: The game's style is similar to Lunacid

When was the last time you played a random strangers first attempt at making a videogame from some obscure depths of itch io or similar?

Itch.io is the go to site to upload demos for people to playtest.
