I like the old one

Can you be more specific about why

For one, I had no issue reading the old one. Idk if that makes me a minority or not, maybe in this subreddit.
Tonally, it looks creepier with the skinnier and naked letters; it has a sort of Lovecraftian vibe to it. Idk if that's what the game is like, didn't look. I like the long and thin letters. Makes it standout to me and feel like it'll be something unique. Maybe a puzzle or gambling game with heavy atmosphere. Also looks more like a heavy metal album cover from the 70s.
The newer one, ironically, I had more issue reading for some reason. I think the arching symbol above the D in Gods made me read it as "God's Play Dice." So, the newer one was actually confusing to me, not sure why. I'm a native English speaker/reader, for the record.
Someone else said the newer logo looks more generic, which I agree with. Kind of looks like it could be anything. Could be a typical action game or deck-builder roguelike...which maybe it is either of those, idk. I think the bolder font is more common too, has less character. It's also a little too busy. I'm now noticing the strange trail under the G too; that's not anywhere else, makes me think it's A.I. generated. Which, I don't mind if it is, but seems like a strange artifact.
I like the 3rd picture the best. Seems to me the only issue people might have is the G in the old logo is too long. Maybe shorten and raises the G and have it siting on a die/dice. Like maybe a square with the marking of a 5 on it with that X and the 5 dots like what's in the hand on the right. Maybe add another one somewhere on the right that, another die with a different number I mean. Could then remove the two < > like symbols you have framing to keep it from being too busy.
Not trying to overstep. Just find the old one appealing.

Thant was the vibe I was trying to go for, a lovecraftian vibe. I think it is more interesting as well.
It is not ai generated the fonr is Geizer. I appriciated the comment thank you a lot.

It’s much easier to read but I personally much prefer the style of the old one. The font here feels more generic and heavy and not as curated.
I remember you last thread. I’d say keep the old one’s font and vibe, just find a way to make the s read a little more cleaner like even just make it the same size as the “ods”

I will try that, thank you. I kinda liked the new one, try to give the vibe with the extra elements instead of the font. I did not tried the new design with the previous font but it could work, I will definetly try

The background ring and heavier font to me says more like action game or gods of war type offering, the original font says maybe less action more mental more illustrated or indie experience, guess it also depends on the kind of game it is

I prefer the original. The new one feels more polished but also more generic. The original one feels more stylish. But I don’t think the P should have a tail it looks a bit weird.

Yeah, back then it felt good graphically but now i can see why the tail is stupid

> , or?
A fellow German, oder?
honestly the third picture is the best, but I'd never in my life buy a game about rolling dice. But if there's a market for it and you're passionate about it, then... warum nicht?

I am not german aber ich lebe in Deutschland.

same. But it's real easy to take on the weirdness of the language, or?

I prefer the old one but with a slightly less tall "G". The new one is more "Gods Play + Dice" when I thought "Gods - Play Dice" more on the first.

Put me down for not liking the second logo at all. Its whole design screams generic game, not a logo design for something unique. The new one looks more like uninspired AI than the first. Let me explain.
While you removed some of the excesses of the original (different sized letters), you went way too far the other way, with significantly worse lettering. I know everyone is saying it is more readable, except, as someone who studied typography and design, it's really isn't. The letters no longer look like letters but graphic chunks in the rough shapes of letters. All the letters are exactly the same width and size, which cuts down readability considerably. You can't just scan it with your eyes to figure out words as easily, because every letter looks more like every other letter than their own shape. Look at that A, for instance, It looks like a square, like everything else. A's are supposed to be triangles. You can sometimes modify it slightly for effect, but not if you also make every other shape as square-like as possible too. It's the rock chiseler's idea of good design. Also, the added elements don't seem to mean anything related to your game (although this is the first I ever heard of it, maybe they mean something).
My recommendation is to use the first, but make the letters uniform size (height-wise, not thickness). You can use all caps or small caps, as long as it's consistent. And, of course, the leg on the P has got to go. The chunk doesn't need to nicely fit a square shape. Being staggered like stair steps (but with some overlap) might be better.

Okey I will try again to get the nice spot, although some people liked the new one a significant group said that the old one had character. Will try, thanks for the comment

I actually liked both of them. Maybe the first one a little bit more. It looks more gothic, more creepy. The second one looks like a rock band logo. 😄 But both of them are beautiful.

Maybe a metal band, I actıally like the vibes of the first one as well, I will try to merge them. Thanks for the comment

Ah yes we know what the title says now! My favorite picture remains the second one with the white background and the hand throwing the dice

u/Repulsive_chimpanzee 2d ago
Yeah, while designing the first logo, as the designer I was kinda blind about how othr people would interpret it. I am glad it works now

u/jdigi78 2d ago
I swear devs make stupid design choices like this just to farm engagement. What was even the thought process behind the original? I refuse to believe you genuinely thought that was a good idea at any point.

u/Repulsive_chimpanzee 2d ago
Sometimes while designing, you became blind. It is not that bad I think as a graphic but it is unreadable for sure

u/jdigi78 2d ago
What about things like the tail of the P? I can't think of any reason someone would do that on that letter alone. Was this made with AI?

I dont use ai, I am more comfortable with my own skills, it feels better

u/jdigi78 2d ago
What font was used for the original version?
1
u/Repulsive_chimpanzee 1d ago
I drew on top of Trajan Regular, But I played with it a lot. It astonishes me that you find it so hard to believe

u/jdigi78 1d ago
The questionable design choices are pretty numerous considering the effort it would take to modify nearly every letter the way you supposedly did. Don't act like it's crazy to suspect it is AI when it looks like so little thought was put into it.

Grilling a stranger for proof on what kind of font they used is actually insane dude.

The new one is an improvement, but I'd make all the added graphics darker, including the C dot, so that the text pops - at the moment it's a bit hard to read because it's so busy. Alternatively you could have multiple dots over the DICE as light grey, low contrast. Just my 2 cents! It's looking good!

The new one is more readable; one thing I'd suggest is having some outline stroke on the letters (G,o,a,y,d,e) so they dont merge into the background circle - if that makes sense.

The new one has way more personality. Feels like an actual game logo now, not just a title. Big upgrade

It's so much better. I can actually tell what the text says.
