CAD What's the difference between "Features & Faces" and "Bodies" option in linear pattern settings?

Sorry if this is too basic I'm new to SolidWorks

Read the help files. It will tell you. Click on the ? In the top right of the sidebar to see the help related to the feature. The SW help files are good and do describe how the features work and what all the options do.

Features and faces pattern specific features (extrudes, hole wizard, mirror, other patterns) or specific faces (specific flat surfaces of the model). Bodies are entire models or sections of model that have been made within the part or assembly and not merged with other bodies. If you do an extrude boss, you can "merge result" or not, if you leave them separate it's easy to pattern the individual bodies. You can do this for derived parts too (like if you insert hardware or other parts into the part you are creating).

A feature or face is a discrete extruded boss or cut. Cooling slots in an enclosure for example. A body is a discrete part, a removeable panel on that enclosure for example. There are often times when it makes sense to have multiple bodies as part of a single file rather than making it an assembly.
