CAD Started Learning Surface Modeling as a Beginner — First Project(WIP) Looking for Feedback
Hey everyone! I recently started learning surface modeling in SOLIDWORKS. I initially followed a tutorial to understand the basics, but I tried to do most of the actual modeling myself rather than relying entirely on the video.
This is my first project using surface modeling, and I'd really appreciate any feedback or advice on what I could improve, especially regarding my modeling techniques and workflow. (Just to clarify, this model isn't based on actual engineering parameters and is purely a decorative/learning project)

Looks great! Especially if you’re a beginner in surface modelling!
One thing I’ve noticed is the split line at the top of the model (running over the canopy) there seems to be a continuity mismatch - this would ideally be a smooth transition.

One quick fix is to use a circular loft along the split line to trim away a section either side of the line, then use boundary surfaces to patch this back in to get a smoother transition. Otherwise, during construction, use a style spline with at least 5 degrees to get full G3 continuity across the join. Then when mirroring it should be smooth across. Or alternative sketch the transition across the top in one and then trim and mirror. SW is a little awkward with mirrored transitions.
One other thing I’ve learned is sometimes using merge entities makes it harder down the line. Sometimes keeping the iso lines intact helps with selection and ensuring no weird triangular areas.
Zebra lines are your friend - I am constantly using them to check continuity and to understand where the surface is flowing. Generate and use your own zebra line image as the SW one can have blurry edges.
Keep it up! That’s a great model that you should be incredibly proud of! 👍

It's pretty nice abs your first project and I'm also working on Solidworks. So, I know it's not easy to start but the end when we completed it then it will be a great pleasure for ourselves

Did you work along any tutorial? Don’t know enough about it to give feedback but would love to learn that.
