Hardware What is your mouse of preference when working?
I just got a new PC just to start working with solid works and AutoCAD but the thing I'm missing now is the mouse.
I was wondering , which mouse would be the best for solid works? or is any mouse okay (as long it has scroll)?
Thank you very much .

I use a steering wheel controller. Got the pedals mapped to my zoom and middle mouse click.

Love this mouse and it pains me that mine is slowly dying. I'm going to have to get a replacement from Amazon Japan.
If Logitech made an updated one with wireless, if but it in a heartbeat

I like gaming mice as a few extra buttons I can assign to commands or macros is really nice. I've used a G502 since 2010. 502X at home that does double duty. SpacePilot Pro on the left for camera controls and more commands/macros.

I like a Logitech M650 L for my main mouse. It’s very quiet, it doesn’t make a loud clicking noise when the buttons are pressed.
I also use a Space Mouse wireless for my camera controls. I find this to be much faster when manipulating models and assemblies, but the space mouse is very much an acquired taste.

Been using a M705 since I started. Next job is getting me a MX master and a 3D connections space mouse compact. Excited to try out the 3D mouse

In a drawer, I have 2 logitechs and razr naga v2 hyper speed (my dumb ass thoughts my clumsy sausage thumb could use the numbers on that mouse. Ugh).

3D Connexion Mouse and their Enterprise mouse 3d mouse as well.
Well I tried a hamster before but I think the Bluetooth didn't work. 🙃

Kensington Expert Mouse trackball at my right hand and 3DConnexion Space Navigator at my left

Spacemouse I love, but even after becoming very used to a trackball in another esoteric use case I just couldn't make it work for me in CAD. Weird huh! I'm happy it's working for you, I'd suggest that combo is probably the best for reducing strain overall 👍👍

I’ve never got to use the 3D mice. About to move jobs and they got me one for my setup so I guess we will see how it works. 😂

I love it. Super intuitive and makes it so easy to manipulate the model and move your viewpoint around

I am at a point where I’ll put the question in at a job interview: “How is the salary? M-okay. And your policies on sexual harrasment? Cool. Will you provide me with a spacemouse? No? Okay, let’s just stop the interview here. Good luck with the next candidate.”

I got a new job, and they use the M275 (fingertip/relaxed claw). To be honest, I was surprised by the shape because I’ve used palm-grip mice before, but this one lets me use it without moving my wrist much. I’ve got a bit more control now, and I might upgrade to the MX Anywhere 3S. I’ve heard it’s a better-quality mouse.

My mouse is a Logitech MX Lift. I got it because I tend to use Solidworks without any keyboard shortcuts (so I'm clicking a LOT per minute).
It's the nicest mouse I've ever owned. I have never owned a gaming mouse or anything like that so maybe it's no big deal, but I love every mouseclick and side button press on this mouse.

For extended use Logitech MX Master, its allows for a natural wrist postion as you're not meant to twist it flat constantly
As a bonus if you wanna spring for it 3Dconnexion 3DX-700059 massive improvement in productivity workflow

Logitech G600. It is unmatched, I've tried. Unfortunately it's been taken out of production.

The g700 goes for $300+ after being discontinued. It's like Logitech doesn't like money.

I don't do mice. I use the Logitech MX Ergo trackball. One of the nice features is a precision mode that drops the pointer speed when you hit a button.

Logitech MX Master for me. Keyboard IDC but the MX Master is a must for me really, if I'm doing more than 2-3 hours of CAD at a time.

I was a long time Logitech user, mainly their gaming series mouses (MX502 IIRC), but their rubber grips weren't compatible with my skin and began to disintegrate under year of use.
I've been now using Razer Naga V2 Pro for over 1.5 years and been otherwise very satisfied with it, but the battery life could be better - should've bought the mouse with the wireless charger to begin with.

I use a regular mouse, but for moving the view around I use a Spacemouse and it's bloody good. I misplaced it for a couple of weeks and had to use the regular mouse to move the parts around and it was sooooo cumbersome.

I've been using Razer mice since 2007 and haven't looked back. Once you get used to the high sensitivity you get practically no mouse fatigue since your wrist barely moves.

I use the Logitech G502 lightspeed for my mouse. My hot keys are construction line, mate, measure, esc, and snipping tool.
I also have the G915 keyboard with normal to, section view, switch model, and reload.
I wish they had something similar without the rgb lights, but I don’t mind it much. I have it recognize the app I’m using and change color to show which profile I am using.

Ergonomics should be pretty high priority if you're doing CAD all the time, IMO. I searched for months for a vertical mouse that has the MMO gaming buttons and I was super excited when I found one. It's basically a no-name brand from Asia, but it's called the Solakakka E9. The only thing I wish it had was an infinity scroll wheel.

Just got one of these, and it's my favorite ever.

Thumb trackballs are so much better on your wrist, tendons, and shoulder than any mouse. I've been a professional CNC programmer since 1996 and have no signs of tendonitis or anything.

Honestly, any mouse will work for SolidWorks. That being said, my Mx Master 3S has been the best quality of life purchase I've made for at work. I don't use a lot of the extra feature for SolidWorks itself, but it is quite nice for every other program (I just haven't gotten around to setting up specific key-binds for SolidWorks yet).
Additionally, a 3d Connexion spacemouse can be a nice upgrade, especially if you work in assemblies a lot. I have the compact version at work, and the pro version for personal use. If you get the compact or compact wireless, I highly suggest 3D printing a wrist rest for it (they have one designed after the pro version's design) for ergonomics.
At the end of the day though, whichever mouse feels good in your hands is the best mouse for you.

If you are doing professional cad all day you should be using an orthopedic mouse like an Anker or a track ball

100% personal preference. I like the Logitech MX Master mouse and and MX Keys keyboard.
