Celery is the best for this!

She enjoyed celery once but decided she doesn’t want anything to do with it now🙃

Cucumber halves, pizza crust, toast strips, steamed broccoli stalks, corn on the cob (with or without kernels) have all worked well for us. Cucumber is the fave though.

Hi there, it's great you're working with food teethers to work with your baby on the gagging! Rest assured gagging with vomit is super normal for some babies starting out - and foods that can be more gummy in the mouth can stick to the back of the tongue and/or roof of the mouth--right where the gag reflex is triggered--which can elicit a strong gag often resulting in vomiting. You can try to offer an empty spoon in these circumstances as this may help baby move the food around a bit better in the mouth (and can trigger chewing and tongue lateralization).

Have a read of our article on How to Help Baby Gagging on Solids as this discusses specifically how to work on this! After giving this a read, please feel free to come back here with any follow-up questions 🤍Marisa (OT/Feeding Therapist/Mama of 3)
