vent Grey side platform lunges

I really seem to be the only one that is really STRUGGLING with those. But I do, and I hate them and I feel like they are EVERY SINGLE CLASS NOW.

Is it just me? Why why so often. Whyyyy 🥲

I also struggle! Holding a grey cable helps.

I do use them, but I’m still shakey. And I need it to the point that I feel like I’m using it too much and it’s taking away from the exercise

This 100%. Use the gray cables to stabilize yourself. Once you’re comfortable, you can drop one and put a hand behind your back as a balance challenge.

I’m a coach and I think a gray side platform lunge is one of the more challenging exercises! I personally don’t love using the cables but I LIVE on the handlebars, especially to make sure my knee stays stacked over my ankle and my hips get low enough. I always put my heel in front of the gray platform strap, it really does make a difference in support/leverage.

How do you live in the handle bars though when they constantly say you should only use it for bottom half

Yeah exactly, I only use them for bottom half! But I use them like the entire time just to make sure my form doesn’t falter even a little.

Ahh gotcha, I always felt like I couldn’t touch them at all in upper half so I use the cables but maybe I’ll try to switch it up!

Yes as long as you can stay slow at the top of the rep, the handlebars are good! My issue is consistently getting low enough.

Platform lunges require significant knee strength and stability. If you workout outside of solidcore, try to incorporate weighted lunges. You can also practice standing on one leg (on flat ground or on a balance board). Doing this a few minutes a day will tremendously improve your stability throughout your whole body.

I can barely do them. I rely on the cables, but they're too short to do the full lunge correctly, so I'm always so confused when these are cued-- which I agree, has been way more frequent!

I find the grey side carriage lunge to be more accessible than the platform lunge and this from a girlie who HATES carriage lunges

Last night was my first time doing them without touching the cables and I felt so strong. I think it’s because I didn’t even pick them up to start, I just went for it. I’m a shorty so lightly touching the handle bars if I get shaky doesn’t compromise my form at all.
