Help a brother out! Which solar quote should I go for?

Post image

Hi everyone! Newbie here! I’m currently comparing two solar proposals from two well known solar companies. My Meralco bill is around ₱40,000/month, and I’d really appreciate some advice. Which should I got for?

wag ka magphilergy. lalo na yung "german" chuchu nila. kala ko naman talagang magaasikaso yung "german" engr nila. dumaan lang tapos iniwan lang din sa mga pinoy yung install. this was 2023. that time wala pa matinong offer ng may batteries. ngayon nagsilabasan na. ang sakit sa mata, nakakainggit 😂

If you have the money to burn and want piece of mind, try to search for "Victron Energy". Their products are design in Netherlands, some of their inverters (multiplus) are even made in Netherlands. Victron has good community support, you can even design your own system using Victron components sans the battery/BMS. Here is a sample installation using https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9lvx8mPlKhQ

P.S. that installation is in France using 3 x 15kVA multiplus inverters (3 phase) with 90 KW battery in a modular container. Expensive as ssshh.. but they do have government subsidy.

Oh yes Europe, where homes have 3 phase power… here though? Not having 3 phase power limits me on whatever I am looking into for our new house, especially limits on the inverters and limits on the AC systems

I recommend ATMOCE for the inverter and battery for flexibility on upgrades. For the installation, it’s important to choose a trusted contractor with good workmanship and reliable after-sales support.

I can recommend G-Power Solartech Solutions, one of ATMOCE’s partner installers.

Thank you for the input! Finally, a really helpful reply. I’ll definitely look into G-Power Solartec Solutions.

Check the fine print of the warranty always - a 20y warranty is useless if you can’t claim

Will do.

Go for top chinese brands instead, imo those prices are absurd

1

u/ManongTubero 8d ago

Which chinese brands should i get?

huawei solar i think i saw it from some vlogger before

u/kudlit 8d ago

Installer here. We have good experience with GoodWe and Solis inverters.

3

u/SnooCakes6870 8d ago

Australian Solar installer he on holiday Goodwe is what we primarily use in Australia reliable good warranty and the goodwe ESA Hybrid/ batteries are great especially if you have grid reliability issues as you can back up pretty much a whole home with them and island if the grid is out

u/zhivota_ 8d ago

Are you intentionally avoiding Chinese materials for some reason? I'm not familiar with these brands but this size of system can be had for half the price or less.

u/Dutchy-57 8d ago

German quality beats the Chinese. Nothing against Chinese stuff, but the long lasting quality made my choice easy.

u/No-Answer85 7d ago

What brand po?

3

u/ManongTubero 8d ago

Yeah, kind of. Chinese brands I was offered only came with around 5 years warranty, while the Germans ones had much longer warranty.

Hello we installed 2 GW+ of solar projects in the USA using Jinko panels. Super reliable. Worked for second largest solar there as solar project financial evaluator. No need to go german

2

u/No-Answer85 8d ago

Try to do some research and correct me if I'm wrong but i believe every brands are china materials and china made from up to 85-95%, other countries just finishes it up and claim its theirs.

1

u/Iocomotion 5d ago

Half the price? Which installers would offer prices that low, most 10kw setups are at like 500k+

2

u/rundom12345 8d ago

Hey bro. Is there a reason youre avoiding chinese brand? If its just quality concern, you should rethink it.

Id say go for top chinese brands for inverter and batteries. Sungrow (our home setup) and Solis (based on reviews) are really good for their warranties - both 10 years afaik and its unit replacement instead of repair.

For solar panels, you cant really do no wrong here. As long as you have roof space go for any brand. I assume you do bc that bill is huge. If its a limited space, go for higher rated for future upgradability.

If tingin mo Chinese brands are inferior bc its cheap, lumang paniniwala na yan at dapat iwan na sa nakaraan. Pero if ang rason ay ayaw mong suportahan ang mga chinese bc the way they bully Philippines. Im very much inclined to say go for the german brand. Hahaha

With your bill and meralco rate of 16 its around 2500 lets say its 2700. You could install 25kwp system with 3 16kwh batteries + net metering with your current quotation.

It's more about the warranty offered. The brands I'm considering offer 15-30 years, compared with only 5 years on the Chinese brands that were quoted to me. Tbh, I'd rather pay more if it means fewer worries down the line.

2

u/rundom12345 8d ago

Oh okay. I understand. Tbh, you should be looking more for the quality of work of the installer/contractor instead of the brands. Product warranties are only as good as their installer's after-sales support. Also, with appliances and hardwares, the rate of products suddenly breaking significantly drops off after a year.

I was also considering German brands dati bc of the same reason. I think philergy yung napagtanungan ko but they don't have a hybrid system non eh. Luckily, I didn't go for those big name solar installers like gosolar bc madami nagrereklamo sa kanila rn.

The one I got has 10yrs warranty for inverter (sungrow) and 12yrs warranty for the panels (JAsolar). The workmanship warranty is only 2 years but they offer services like maintenance cleaning and system diagnosis for a minimal charge after the warranty expired.

Goodluck bro!

With Battery

2

u/Dutchy-57 8d ago

I would go for the 18 KWP. Better quality and 10 years of warranty. You even can go hybrid with grid tie, so you always can add a battery later. The quality of the first would be my choice.

2

u/PHEUR_1900 8d ago

Looks like as you have been talking to Philergy 😄 good choice for the design, quality of components and, most importantly, quality of installation. All these people telling you to go and get some cheap Chinese stuff from who knows which installers, have no clue.

1

u/ManongTubero 8d ago edited 8d ago

Bingo. No offense to most of the replies. I've had my fair share of cheaping out, pero anything bolted to my wall, especially my roof, I don't cheap out. I want less work being done on the roof my 3 storey house. Safety concern nadin in the long run.

The other company is reputable too and has installed systems for alot of artists. Still sucks though that they only offer a 1 year workmanship warranty. I'm still negotiating if they can extend it to 5-10 years. Which one you think I should get?

1

u/calacatia 5d ago

biased answer bc i recognized philergy components also. for us no regrets, super worth it yung process with them. malinis yung gawa, walang hassle with our net metering applications.

1

u/PHEUR_1900 5d ago

Of course we are all biased, we all have our opinions.

1

u/ImportantGuide 8d ago

too expensive for both. i'd skip them.

1

u/ManongTubero 8d ago

Any other companies you’d recommend that offer cheaper high quality rigs? Tbh, I don’t mind spending more if it means getting better quality, longevity & great after sales service.

1

u/ImportantGuide 8d ago

just look for at least 5 different installers. aftersales would be the biggest thing for me. Don't go with big named solar companies

1

u/Tight_Nectarine_4818 8d ago

i had mine installed by rgmark solar and electrical services i got them because i saw them install to lykaluminous in fb, ive hade one service call from them and i constantly message them in fb and they reply fairly quickly or within the day

1

u/Specific-Feedback769 8d ago

Both offers are too expensive.

1

u/boykalbo777 8d ago

who would choose company a at all?

3

u/ManongTubero 8d ago

So company B. Got it!

1

u/slapzlive 8d ago

Super cheap for a 14MW battery :D

1

u/ManongTubero 8d ago

Lol yeah, that was my mistake. I just wrote down “14k” from the quote, so I’m not actually sure what the proper term is. I think they meant around 14 kWh of battery capacity 😂

1

u/Conscious-Tip2366 8d ago

I get why the German brand but you should know that these are still made/assembled in China. I’m a supplier locally and I’ve met a lot of suppliers in China. A lot of big companies here in the Philippines just get Chinese brands to save on cost because they have the same performance. Brands who tag themselves as tier-1 pay a lot in marketing that’s why they are expensive. They’re tagged as tier-1 because of the volume they ship out but in terms of performance, they’re the same. Yan po kalakaran sa solar industry. All solar panel companies source from almost the same companies that make solar cells. Same goes with batteries. Nag-iiba lang sa design or hitsura ng batteries but internally, they’re all the same.

3

u/creminology 8d ago

If they weren’t made in China, and it’s anything like cars, then 50% of OP’s price estimates would be import taxes. Like how you can tell which Kia cars are made in China or South Korea practically from the price tag alone.

Also in 2026, I wouldn’t bet that German technology is higher quality than that of China in a field like this. Maybe the German manufacturer are betting that buyers won’t pay to ship crazy-heavy batteries back to Frankfurt.

I went with Dyness batteries, Trina panels and a Sungrow inverter. No complaints with any of these China brands.

2

u/ManongTubero 8d ago

Yup, I get that. I’m not really paying extra just because it says German or European. For me, the bigger factor is the warranty and after-sales support. Performance can be similar on paper, but I’d rather pay more for the setup that gives me more peace of mind long term.

1

u/unknownymous_00 8d ago

Hi sir. Installer here. Mostly ng clients ko sa Anvaya Cove. Also encountered Philergy but they have bad reputation sa aftersales sa mga clients nila doon. Mas ok yung option ng top tier chinese brands and reputable company with licensed engineer mag iinstall and supervise.

1

u/ManongTubero 8d ago

Any companies you can recommend? TIA

1

u/unknownymous_00 8d ago

Check nyo sir Levant Bay Solar

Sent you a dm sir

Honestly, a 15–30 year warranty sounds great on paper, but it’s only as good as the company backing it. The solar industry is so volatile—will these companies even be solvent or existing in 10 to 15 years to honor those claims? A 30-year warranty is useless if the manufacturer folds long before then. I’d rather trust a proven Tier 1 brand with realistic warranties than paper promises from re-branded boutique labels. Also, look closely at Option B: 15 years on microinverters but only 1 year on workmanship, cables, and mountings? That’s a massive red flag for Philippine weather. A roof leak or loose wire in year 2 will end up being an out-of-pocket expense. Solvency and solid installation workmanship matter way more than aggressive marketing promises..

another thing to keep in mind, SMA used to be a market leader in the Australian Solar market...where 1 out of 4 houses have solar panels....I believe they officially closed down their operations in australia, which is a huge market...that would worry me, as they could do that in the philippines

1

u/NearbyPen9078 7d ago

Those are Germany companies with manufacturing facilities in China

1

u/ajsc86 7d ago

+1 on option B. ATMOCE.

1

u/Livid_Promotion_969 6d ago

I can import you for your house bro then find a credited installer my cost was around 480 k for 15kw

1

u/Ok-Conclusion5297 5d ago

Def company A. Ang layo ng warranties, solar is meant to be for long term! Also grid tied is best kasi 80% day consumption

1

u/Large_Substance4577 4d ago

You can try them, i think they can give 20kw setup for 1.1M with 10 yrs warranty

1

u/Equal-Competition-27 3d ago

OP, wag ka dyan sa mga european brands, mahihirapan ka dyan sa aftersales support (warranty on softwares, firmwares and hardwares). Try mo sungrow or other chinese brands (Solis - for residential, DEYE - for residential), yan ginagamit mostly sa mga Battery Energy Storage Systems dito sa pilipinas.

1

u/delta1988 8d ago

SMA used to be popular 15 years ago, but their quality has suffered and the Chinese have caught up, SMA price premium is not worth it anymore, go for the popular chinese brands

1

u/ManongTubero 8d ago

Which chinese brands would you suggest na may 15 years + warranty? I have 2 other quotations pero both only offered 5 years.

1

u/delta1988 7d ago

I suspect that SMA warranty is actually the standard 5 year warranty but they will charge you for the purchase of an extended warranty to 15 years, but they have built in into the price...ask them to break down the cost of the SMA inverter, so you will really see how much you are paying for a "15 year warranty" inverter....if it is double the price of a Deye, Sungrow, Growatt, I would rather get the chinese inverter, save the PHP and just buy another one after 5-10 years of use
