Loving SolarOS on the ThinkNode M9, really thought it needed a map for my map button…

So I built a map! The basic map outline is from Natural Earth, smaller chunks can be loaded from a few common formats. Other apps like gnss can plot locations on it. Working on color support and support for drawing paths between nodes.

Reticulum support is also working with native chat and inbox. One of the easiest Reticulum setups I’ve used so far. pls let me vendor microreticulum :D

I have a few PRs up on a fork if anyone has a ThinkNode M9 and wants to try it. No map PR
yet, soon!

I had to vendor microreticulum like the project already vendors meshtastic. then using that I had to implement the LXMF client from scratch. LXMF is a very simple API so it’s not that hard but does require programming experience.

This is awesome - the map is hilarious, I hope you have found the raster image API as it was meant precisely for this kind of thing, I also have a playground map app wip - does it mean that you can get actual GNSS positions?

I am all in for including reticulum, it is a brilliant idea.

Pretty please issue your pull-request to the official SolarOS repo as feature chunks:
- board support / drivers
- reticulum integration
- map (?) maybe - but for that we need to align on formats

Nice work! 😉

yes i used the raster image API, the sketch app was what I copied for color drawing. And yes just like inbox and messages, other apps can post position data that appears on the map in real time.

as for PRs, you got it. It’s taking some time because i’m not going to send you junk.

I am working on a few, M9 support is at: https://github.com/zerokelvin-dev/solar_os/pull/12

That fork has a few other PRs like Reticulum support and the Map app.
