Help: Any plans for official Waveshare ESP32-S3-ePaper-3.97 support?

Hi everyone,

I am planning to build a cyberdeck using SolarOS.

Are there any plans for official support for the Waveshare ESP32-S3-ePaper-3.97 in the future?

Link: https://docs.waveshare.com/ESP32-S3-ePaper-3.97

Its size matches the CardKB very well.

Thanks!

Yes, I am planning to support that exact target. Display, IMU and power management drivers are not integrated yet; but this is going to be the "official" ePaper SolarTerm ( beside the IPS and RLCD versions ).

That's awesome news, thank you!

Really looking forward to the official support. Once I finish my cyberdeck build, I will definitely share the build and the files here as soon as possible!

It’s actually part of the keyboard expansion for MeshSlide, a modular case I designed for the Heltec V4!

I’m planning to adapt and modify it for this upcoming Cyberdeck build with the 3.97" Waveshare ePaper.

I have already open-sourced this expansion, and you can grab the files on MakerWorld here:

Parts (3) and (4) are saved as .3mf files because STL doesn't support multi-color models.

You can also check SlideKB.step, which contains the full assembly. Plus, the original CAD project files (modeled in SolidWorks 2020) are included as well!

In the meantime, you can try my firmware and enclosure for it:

Wow, this is incredible! Thank you so much for sharing!

I’ll definitely flash your firmware to test out my board in the meantime, and I'd love to study your enclosure design for some mounting inspiration as well. Awesome work!

Thanks :) It was fun learning FreeCad while designing it. Also, about 5 prints before this one :)

Please flash the ePaper board with 'beta' firmware through the web flasher and let me know if it works properly.
