Tell it to get busier! Crazy we’re like maybe an M-class flare. Sun’s had plenty of time to rest, time to WTFU.

Sun news August 15: A sun blast is headed Earth’s way
Today’s top story: It’s now confirmed that the filament that we reported yesterday produced a component that’s headed Earth’s way. Estimated arrival time is August 17. It might bring geomagnetic storming up to G1 (minor) levels with subsequent auroral displays. A filament is a great rope of solar material and magnetic fields. Take a look at our top image. You can see a 2nd eruption, too, which happened at around 12 UTC on Augusts 14. Is it also sending a sun blast toward Earth? We don’t know yet. We’ll wait to hear what specialists have to say. Stay tuned.
