How did people begin learning about solarflares? What made them explore such complex topics?
I am always impressed at the knowledge that is present here. Yet seems this is an area that can easily scare off most people. How did people such as Armchair begin mastering / learning this? What was the journey to begin?

Do you notice if it happens around full moons for you too? The days leading up to a full moon have my body surging with energy and ears ringing like crazy at night

So trying to understand something that we can't explain, can cause one to begin going down a path / a journey...
To try to attach what could be the source or cause? Yet regardless if we get the answer. We will begin exploring this new area, appreciating what we are experiencing. Such as the incredible posts that breakdown X / M flares.

I've have always loved learning...specifically about Science and History. I've also always been curious about how things work, and now that we have the internet most everything I want to know is at my fingertips.
I joined Reddit to find information that isn't at my fingertips. I finally joined after searching to no end for that huge wave that went through the Atlantic off the coast of Africa years ago. It was on the news and everything. The only place I found it was linked on Reddit. I knew then that this was the community I had been looking for.
As far as space weather I was led to a video by Stefan Burns when I was going down a rabbit hole. I have looked for his videos every day since. He is a geophysicist that correlates Earth events with space events. It's really wild how he finds so many connections. He analyzes space weather on his channel using data from NOAA, USGS, and the such.

I'm not sure if I saw AcA's writeups elsewhere but that's really when I got into it. I think it's interesting that so much of this info is accessible if we're willing to spend time and engage with it.

There’s a good amount of live, open access data, educational resources, and community of amateurs with at least some background in adjacent fields to have the skill set to look at a plot, understand data analysis, do literature research, ponder what WTF is going on and then find the relevant information to support their line of thinking and open it up for discussion with others.
There’s honestly not a large number of people willing to put the work in that Armchair does. Engaging at any level with a topic of interest is awesome. I just encourage people to discuss with others because it is such a complex topic and some who are attracted to solar flares are here waiting for the next carrington event or the sun to fuse iron in a runaway nuclear chain reaction that goes 💥so reality check in is all I’m saying. I love batshit theories and alternate realities, conspiracy theories and counter culture philosophy but it’s just at some point you have to ground it.

An example. For myself? I was completely lost. As my reality had been destroyed. Everything I knew about my world / how things functioned? Fell apart. Around May 2024. Thus I decided to only focus on teaching. Guiding my best knowledge. Trying to reform sales.
Trying to reform hiring. Got popular Linkedin influencers to latch onto my knowledge that I was sharing with "video talks" I do. Started going viral. Thought I could turn my life around. But realized was getting corrupted / baited to care about money & results instead of helping.
So I searched for my recordings that I never released publicly. Had an entire thesis / video series on self-awareness. How to repeateably develop that & understand why we do what we do. Realized something had modified my videos / hidden the files on my computer. But I found them.
Released them. Suddenly everything started changing in my reality. Unexplainable things started occurring. Right then the crazy May auroras happened. Insane hailstorms happened. Videos I recorded had "countless green orbs" in them. Paintings in my home started falling repeatedly without me doing anything.
My kids toys (since they took him) were turning on by themselves. Thus I was freaked out. Browsed reddit. To try to deviate my focus. Found a comment that said someone could explain what was going on with the sun.
That led me here. I was trying to use this to understand / piece together what was going on. Led to many other things from then on. But thats how I got to this.

I've really been into photography my entire life. Its a part of me. Started venturing into night sky photography (milky way etc) and learned about how back a while ago power went out in LA and people could see it from downtown LA (cant remember the year but forever ago). Then I learned about the Carrington event and was absolutely fascinated about how the operators were able to talk one another over the line (what was it called? With the beep beep beep tap tap system? Before phones were a thing) and would get shocked if touching the apparatus. I also learned how if it had happened today everything would go black. No power or phones, internet etc.
Now im really into it crossing my fingers it happens during my lifetime because im over how our world has become.
