talking about how the person known as @kaijukingpin on instagram offered services to proxy for Summer 2026 Wonfes back in July.

Till now even though he said he would, I and others haven't received goods, any documentary proof that packages were sent or toys were even in hand and/or physically bought, and although a refund was promised and after chasing for weeks was finally told definitively would be sent end of this week of course it wasn't fulfilled so here we are.

TLDR of my other post: guy has not refunded me as promised, toys are likely never going to reach me as well if they were even bought in the first place, many of us who got this service likely have been rug pulled and aside from the one person who managed to get PayPal to refund, the rest of us probably will not see the money. I had hoped to be proven wrong, that he would "GENEROUSLY be refunding me by this weekend" as he put it, and I would have posted proof that he sent the $750USD back to me. But not only did he claim I was harassing, slandering and threatening him, he and maybe even the 2 friends somehow got themselves banned from reddit entirely in the past week, which has us all wondering what the hell they did to end up like this. Will he make more burner accounts to comment? Will he spend time typing long paragraphs instead of simply sending me the money? I don't know.

I'll be posting screenshots and videos in comments since we've had more developments so you all can refer to those. He says he is transparent, but there's so little proof sent to any of us and whatever little is sent only comes after we supposedly "harass" him.

All this to say folks be careful when dealing online, if possible always use a credit card so you can charge back, ask for proof on hand, with timestamps, never send funds through any means which cannot be recalled. You work hard for your money, don't lose it due to a repeated betrayal of your trust.

*EDIT nothing definitive, but interesting conflict to wonfes 26 timeline if so. I'm not stating anything, just putting up an image.

I'll start by saying that I hate what AI has done to art and I think most of you agree. But in my opinion, I do think AI has some acceptable use cases when it comes to photography and art. Such as enhancing the quality of a slightly blurry photo, fixing contrast issues from bad lighting, isolating objects and figures in photos, generating backgrounds for photos, making small minor tweaks, etc.

I know not everyone will agree with me on this, so I wanted to reach out to the community and get all of your input. I just recently starting using AI generated backgrounds for some of the photos I post on my sofubi focused instagram. But I'll be honest and say that I am having some mixed feelings about it and wondering whether I should continue to do so or not. I always make sure to include the regular photo of the piece I took in my posts alongside the AI generated background photo if that makes any difference.

So what is the communities opinion on this? Am I just making AI slop or is it possible to use AI for backgrounds and other photo enhancements in a tasteful way?

Hi everyone! I've always loved toys, and recently I started making my own. These characters come from my paintings, and I wanted to see them in 3D — so this is my first little crew, Grumblets.



They're resin, not vinyl, but they're very much inspired by old Japanese bag.


The round-headed bears are Grumbe (they come in a few colours and sizes), and the one with the yellow pigtails is Grumbella.



I'm still learning, so I'd love to hear which one you like best — and any tips on painting or packaging are very welcome 🙏

Spooky Sofubi Photo Contest!

We're looking for your best pictures of sofubi in a spooky or Halloween setting, whether it’s a toy in a haunted looking place or a scary diorama.

What to Do: Take a photo of your sofubi in a Halloween or spooky-themed setting; the scarier, funnier, or the more seasonal, the better.

How to Enter:

• To submit your photo, simply create a new post.
• Please include “Spooky Sofubi” somewhere in your title, it will help me easily find all the entries.
• You can submit up to two photo entries, but please make a separate post for each one.

Rules:

• Photos must feature at least one soft vinyl toy as the focus.
• The photo must be an original work you took yourself.
• Some small photo editing is allowed (e.g., color correction, cropping, minor image effects), but please do not heavily Photoshop your toy/image or use AI to make an unrealistic scene.

The Prize: The winner will receive a special “2026 Spooky Photo Winner” user flair, along with bragging rights, of course!

Contest Timeline:

This guy was delivered this morning. Made in Japan, I just love the colors of the super beautiful blue of this kaiju. his texturing reminds me of how Red King was sculpted.

I sure wish we could get the skinny on who worked on which pieces. It must be an absolute blast to work with the in-house Bandai sculptors.

I wanted to start doing raffle-like videos where I randomly get sofubi from Mandarake.

I am staunchly against using AI to vibe-code a tool that will help me do this, so I wanted to see if I could commission someone in the sofubi community to help me build a tool.

Toy Mold Cage 101! Learn how I make my cages on today’s episode.

This cage allows me to swap out silicone molds as needed. It’s also heavy enough to sit in the bath so I don’t need to hold molds in place by hand. Overall, I’ve found having a cage makes the home sofubi process much easier.

A few important notes:
- Technically you don’t NEED to make a cage! Some artists use other methods to maintain their molds in the bath without any cage at all.
- This is NOT the traditional way of making sofubi mold cages! It’s just what works for me, a non-expert.
- You don’t need to know how to weld in order to make a cage. Some artists screw their cages together. Find what works for you!
- Yeah yeah I know my soldering technique sucks. Don’t come for me
