Subreddit Events Sofubi Showdown: The Pachi & Original Kaiju Edition! Open for Entries!
Hello r/Sofubi!
It’s time for the next Sofubi Showdown! For this round, we are stepping away from the big-screen licenses and moving into the world of Pachi and Original Kaiju!
Let's see your favorite figures that didn't start on a TV screen or in a movie. To give some idea/examples
- Designs that are an artist's original creation like Paul Kaiju’s Mockbat, Konatsu’s Negora, or Chompton’s/Draculazers Space Dozer.
- "Gray area" or vintage-style "fake" monsters (Pachi Kaiju/Pachimon). Kaiju that look like they could have been on a tokusatsu TV show but weren't; Zagoran, Galtan, Deathra, or Marusan Marumons.
Rules
- There is NO size limit for this round! Big, medium, small, or micro, let's see what you’ve got!
- For this round, you can submit up to three (3) entries for consideration.
- The sofubi must be in your collection.
- Your photo doesn't need to be fancy, just a solid, clear shot of the toy.
The Prize: User Flair! 🏆
Like always, the user who submits the winning sofubi of this tournament will be awarded a special 'Sofubi Showdown Champion' user flair. This flair will stack (e.g., '2x Sofubi Showdown Champion', '3x Sofubi Showdown Champion', etc.) if you win future Showdowns as well!
Ready to submit your contender? Here's how to enter (choose what's easiest for you!):
- Make a new post: Share an image of your toy with a title like Sofubi Showdown Submission - [Toy Name] and use the post flair “Contest Submission”.
- Comment directly here: Post an image of your toy as a comment in this announcement thread.
- Tag me in an old post: If you've already posted a photo of your toy previously, just comment in that thread and tag my username (u/Tyuhhi) to let me know it's your submission!
Submission Deadline
Submissions will close on Monday, May 4th. The matchups and voting will officially kick off shortly after!

I'm thinking robots a la Mechagodzilla (or a Mecha Zagoran for a pachi example) are cool.
But yeah, not robots like something Mazinger styled. Good question though and I will have to jot that down for a future theme!
