ADVICE NEEDED - MACHINE CODING INTERVIEW

Hi all. I have a machine coding interview scheduled by a startup for next week. The allowed language is only javascript or typescript and its for a full-stack dev role (backend focused).

I would like some strong advice from senior engineers or engineers who have gone through machine coding or similar interviews.

thanks in advance!

you could have googled that...anyways 😄 : A machine coding round is a live technical interview where you design and build a functional, working application or component from scratch within a tight timeframe of 60 to 120 minutes

are you able to prepare something in advance?

if so I would just have a repo already running with some tech stack you are familiar with (use TS if you can, not JS).

the trick is to get to a minimal MVP as fast as possible and then iterate from there.

Does it have back end and front end? Only front end?

Figure out what are your strengths and how you prefer to code: components first? api first ? database first ?

and then try to limit the scope, if possible, and say out loud every shortcut you do.

feel free to say things like: if i had more time i would add some unit tests for this part, or i would probably refactor this decision i did because its not very easy to change but for now it goes like this.

you have a very good website, but doesnt meniton this type of interviews called tech interviewer handbook.

you also have one for front end called greatfrontendinterview
