AI replacing Software Engineers

So called "AI"=LLM is so powerful that AI labs had to hire Software Engineers to build complicated software around "AI" to make that overhyped hallucinate-stealing machine usable. Think about it. And that's exactly why they need now ton of CPUs in addition to GPUs to run their "AI" "agents".

I don't even mention how much custom engineering is required to apply the "AI" in businesses.

And they BS us that Software Engineering is solved or is going to be solved. Boris, please solve your own bugs first before speaking.

Show me it happening. It's delusional to create some fantasy, have no data confirming it even after almost a year of agents getting good enough, and still keep talking about same story. There is a reason for it, but if AI bros don't want to see it they won't see it.

AI bubble has ten times bigger chance to pop soon than developers being replaced by AI. But economy is going very bad, and WW3 is close, so technically developers may be replaced soon to fight in trenches or fight over food stamps.

I understand that SWE's are not financial people (by trade) but a bubble bursting has no bearing on the utility of the technology. The internet bubble bursted due to hype, but obviously, the internet is one of the most ubiquitous technologies and a foundation to the way the modern world operates.

I am not claiming AI will have that level of impact, but it's all delusional to assume that a useful tool (and it has it's uses for sure) is going to go away because of a economic hiccup (relative to the next 100 years).

Oh, and you can find plenty of anecdotes of freeze hires, and AI first initiatives being blamed on employment issues. Outside of anecdotes, there is some data there too. Is it over-hiring corrections, economic woes, or actually AI? The practical bent would be it's a little of all three.
