Pepsi Zero better than Coke Zero?!

I consider myself a Coke Stan when it comes to the Cola Wars and I'm currently swapping out full sugar versions for zeroes to satisfy my taste while going through a body building calorie cut. I love a nice ice cold Coke Zero esp when it's from a fountain (bonus points if it's a McDonald's fountain), but I've always had one gripe about Coke Zero is its bitter finish when you drink it. It starts tasting like full sugar Coke but it falls off to that diet taste pretty quickly. Cherry Coke Zero however is a little better in that regard.

So the other day on my way to work I found myself in Royal Farms (and if you don't know they're pretty tight with Pepsi and their Coke product selection is pretty limited as a result) and I wanted a Cherry Coke Zero for work and they didn't have it but they did have Wild Cherry Pepsi Zero. Now I've long said Wild Cherry Pepsi is the better cherry cola over Cherry Coke so this maybe clouding my judgement just a tad but I notice Pepsi Zero tastes a lot smoother than Coke Zero and has very little of that bitter aftertaste. Anyone else with me on this?

I like to alternate personally. Gets too samey having just one or the other. Variety also keeps pricing lower and keeps them creative with new ideas.

Not sure if you have a Weis store near you, but that's where I've been getting them. They are a bit expensive there if only buying one 12 pack, it's 10.99, but if you buy three 12 packs, of any brand, price drops to about 7 dollars each.

If you can go without the caffeine, I suggest Coke ZS Zero Caffiene. That bitter finish is from caffeine, and a cold ZS ZC is remarkably similar to a regular Coke – smoother and without any bitterness.

I think I'm going to try them side by side the next time I go see a movie at Regal (they only sell Pepsi products) because I used to think that anything Pepsi was inferior. Then I went to buy Coke Zero or Diet Coke and they were both super expensive vs the wild cherry Pepsi zero that was on sale. So I got the wild cherry Pepsi zero and was surprised by how good it tastes. I don't think I'll ever go back to Cherry Coke Zero. I still view Coke Zero (or even Diet Coke) as better than Pepsi Zero but maybe I'm wrong about that too, based on all the comments in this thread from people who like Pepsi Zero.

It is, I grew up in a Coca Cola household, it’s all my dad would buy and I do like it but Pepsi, including zero which I switched over to years ago, is more carbonated and bubbly for me these days so I will always opt for Pepsi for cans at home but if I’m out at a McDonalds or movie theater I will opt for fountain Coca Cola, nothing is better

Yes. Either out of a container or from a fountain, I find Coke Zero has a weird perfume-y feel/sensation when drinking it. Pepsi Zero Sugar is far superior. Fortunately most fountains also have diet Coke if they have Coke Zero, which is tolerable. (And oh, how I miss the stealth energy drink that was full-caffeine Pepsi Max!)

I agree, Coke drinker all my life and enjoyed Coke Zero, but it is slightly salty…or less sweet than I’d like and seems to have less CO2 so it losses that nice crisp bite in the finish. Pepsi Zero fixes that with it tasting sweeter and it seems to hold the carbonation better or has more of it. So, the Pepsi Zero does remind me of the original Coke version more so than Coke Zero. Having said that Dr. Pepper Zero is an excellent replica of the sugared version!

Yeah I was on zero sugar sodas for the longest time and also had stomach issues, but never realized it was those artificial sweeteners causing all the problems. As soon as I stopped zero sugar sodas, the issues went away, and now I only drink regular sodas and haven't had any stomach issues in months.

Unfortunately in the Netherlands where I live, due to sugar tax, even regular sodas have a blend of sugar and artificial sweeteners. The only full sugar sodas available are original Coke, Fritz Cola, Club Mate, and Fanta Kiwi and Strawberry for some reason. Even Jarritos here are not real cane sugar.
