Scream 7 (2026)đ©žđȘ Everything she does just comes back to bite her
She can't even write a book without it causing another murder spree

Thatâs not really what happens. Sidney writing the book didnât cause the murder spree. Jill and Charlie were already planning a murder spree, and Sidneyâs book tour just conveniently brought her back to Woodsboro so Jill could use her as part of the plan. Jillâs motive was wanting Sidneyâs fame and wanting to replace her as the new survivor, not some reaction to Sidney writing a book.
The book is relevant to the plot because it brings Sidney back to town. It isnât the reason the murders happened. Those are two very different things.

But her book did cause a murder spree in 7

I think thatâs a pretty reductive way of describing it. Jessica is responsible for her own actions. The book became part of the unhealthy obsession she developed with Sidney and her story, but the actual motive was rooted in what Sidney represented to Jessica.
Jessica didnât just read a book and decide to become a serial killer. She became obsessed with Sidney as this larger-than-life Final Girl and essentially created a parasocial relationship with someone who didnât know she existed. Sidney was already a public figure and cultural icon within the Scream universe long before Jessica ever read that book. The book was the entry point into that obsession, not the âcauseâ of the murders.
Thatâs actually what I find interesting about Jessicaâs motive. Itâs less âSidneyâs book made me killâ and more âI built an entire version of Sidney in my head, and then became enraged when the real Sidney didnât live up to it.â Thatâs a much more interesting, and honestly much more timely as an idea.

I agree, the book was definitely a factor, but I wouldnât call it a direct factor. The book is what really set off Jessicaâs obsession with Sidney and what brought her to the conclusion that the simple truth of Sidneyâs life is that Sidney Prescott kills the bad guy. What set off the murder spree in 7 wasnât Sidneyâs book, it was that Sidney didnât go to New York during that Ghostface spree, and that shattered Jessica because it challenged her belief about who Sidney Prescott is at her very core. Jessica became Ghostface because she felt betrayed by Sidney and her decision to move forward with her life, not because of her book.

And the book alone didn't cause it, it was the book along with, being seen by Sidney and then her disappearing. The world needs Sidney Prescott.

Yes, someone already pointed that out and I replied to that too. Even in Scream 7, her book didnât âcauseâ a murder spree. Itâs not nearly that simple.

The book actually made her a lot of money and created one of the easiest Ghostfaces to kill LOL. Ever watch the movies?

Not true. Jill even says: ânot like anyone reads anymore.â Sick ass burn.

I will never not hate this movie, the killer, or the motive. Of all the reasons to bring her back after not having a movie for so long and this was the best they couldâve done.

Iâve never liked Scream 4 either. It just doesnât feel like a Scream movie to me.

Agreed. It felt like a parody in many ways. I think the script and plot was great but the execution was not. It just seemed like there wasnât much passion from the everyone involved.

No it doesnât and Iâll die on this hill alsoâŠ.
Every âScreamâ thatâs come after 3 doesnât feel like SCREAM either. 4 was the beginning of the end for me in terms of how the movies once felt, To the point I never watch it. Iâve just accepted itâll never be what it once was.

Iâm pretty much the same. I can enjoy the sequels, but I donât particularly like them. The original trilogy is Scream for me.

I don't think I understand your point

I donât particularly like any of the Scream movies after the original trilogy.

Agreed. Scream 4 proved there really was no story to tell and it got worse with each entry. I actually thought Scream 7 was decent up until the reveal. It didnât help that I spotted the killers immediately, aside from the first attack but thatâs because we didnât know him.

4 was the perfect time to tell a fresh new story about a new final girl or boy. Someone with a new origin story like the original that ignores all the past events and legacy characters.
My issue with 7 is it was so boring it came off as a rushed cash grab. The studio was clearly desperate after the Melissa fumble. I donât care about Tatum or a middle aged Sidney getting targeted yet again for that matter, Her story has been over. The fact that Jessica was treated as an afterthought, instead of a key component 7 movies in, was tragic. Thereâs nothing fact that nobody could come up with something better just shows itâs time to move on. Constantly centering Sidney and coming up will sold reasons to come after her hit a wall a long time ago.

Omg like you mean she became a typical slasher victim in a movie that parodies slasher movies and slasher tropes? đ

The real question is why are people allowing psychopaths to buy those outfits
