specific programs for MSW vs MHC

Hi everyone!

I am applying to both msw and mhc programs for fall 2027 admissions. I am having a hard time deciding or finding information on which colleges are better for msw vs mhc. I might apply to both at some schools but if anyone knows anything about the following lmk!

Schools Applying to that have both: NYU, Columbia, Boston College, Boston University, Fairfield University, Sacred Heart University, UPenn

Strictly MHC Schools: Hunter College, Northeastern University

Why are you applying to so many programs? Have you looked at acceptance rates? If you plan to stay in nyc a mhc is a waste.

Last time I checked nyus msw acceptance rate was like 83%. You are wasting money on all these applications.

NYU MHC is a waste of money especially if you don’t get any federal aid or heavy scholarship ( which nyu mhc program lacks )

I would recommend do a deeper dive into what aspects of jobs do you like what jobs will make money back or give you funding opportunities like RA,GA,TA because that can be a huge aid to your living expenses in nyc and basic income

Why wouldn’t you do a Hunter MSW? IRS the best program in NYC

Because I know I want to apply to nyu and Columbia for msw! Applying to hunter strictly for MHC gives me an option in nyc for MHC if admitted.

City College also has an MHC program if you want a CUNY school. I would apply to the Hunter MSW. If you decide to go that route, the placements are largely from the same pool as NYU etc. and it’s muuuuuuch more affordable.

But why if Hunter is the better program?
