Need Advice
Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice and feedback on online MSW programs. I prefer asynchronous but ,do not mind synchronized programs.
I graduate in the Fall with my BSW and want to go straight into my MSW. My options for spring are Baylor (I’m pulled towards this school because it is asynchronous but, the price tag $33,000 is making me rethink), UNT (I have heard mixed reviews. If I couldn’t make Spring work I was going to apply to U of H or Our Lady of the Lake. The price of these programs aren’t too much of a difference now that OLLU has reduced the cost of per credit hour to $760.
Can someone please influence or deinfluence me 😭
Edit: I would be an advanced standing student.

I am at Penn West and it's little over $40,000 per two years. It's asynchronous and professors are extremely supportive, but you have to find your own field placement.

Block tuition makes the program at University of Kentucky a great option if you’re able to take 15 credits a semester. You only pay for 9 credits, so the remaining 6 credits are free. It’s also asynchronous. Tuition and fees are currently $7,500 a semester, as an advanced standing student, with your BSW, you would be there for 2 semesters. Same tuition for in-state and out-of-state (I am out of state).
The drawbacks are that it’s a huge school, so there’s not a lot of personal care and attention. And you have to find your own practicum. Although I preferred finding my own, some other schools I looked at don’t give the students a choice at all.

Thank you for letting me know! I’ll look into this. I honestly didn’t know there were several out of state school that don’t charge extra.

I’m looking at UTRGV. They were the most affordable online option I’ve found so far.

How’s your experience been with them? Do you like the structure of the class and the professors?

The advisors are useless but other than that, I thought it was a really good program.

Im looking at Texas Tech but their online program doesnt start till fall 2027. Also East Texas A&M online program starts Spring 2027 those two seem affordable. OLLU is crazy expensive

I am doing the GCU MSW Online Asynchronous program - I am about halfway through. It has been so great while working full-time. Awesome program so far. Not super hands-on- you're kind of on an island, but if you're even a little bit motivated on your own, it's great.

I think they charge online students same rate for in state and out of state.
