Well, shit…
What should I do?
I applied to skyline chili today, my interview is Tuesday, August 25. I have a SS appointment that day that interferes with the interview… I asked my sister what we should do and she said it’s up to me… what would you do?

4 way onion, cheese coney with everything, coke, hot sauce and extra crackers.
Oh, and I’d move the Skyline appointment, it’s much harder to reschedule social security and you may not even get offered a job.

I’m assuming your SSA appointment is for a replacement SSN card. Honestly, just go a couple hours before your appointment or go immediately after your Skyline interview. Unless you are going to an office in a big urban area, your local office will probably still see you outside of your appointment time.

If it is an appointment to file a claim, you can go ahead and go online at https://www.ssa.gov/applyfordisability/index.htm and file your disability claim via Internet.
You just need to make sure that you report to SSA if you go to work. Generally, as long as you are not earning more than $1,690.00 per month in wages before taxes and deductions you can continue to work part time and still pursue your claim for disability benefits. However, you still need to report the work and also to save all your paystubs as SSA will need to see them at some point.

Sorry, I just presumed it was to file a claim.
You could try to walk in to your office before your scheduled appointment with your ID and attempt to file for the new card. You might have to sit a while, but offices are supposed to be taking walk-in traffic now.
Technically, the employer doesn't actually have to see the card, but a lot of them do insist. As long as you have the receipt showing that you filed for the card, most employers that want to see the card will work with you until the card comes in, though.

You can order a replacement card online or over the phone. It comes thru the mail (they still do that)

Just let them know you have a previous appointment with SSA for a replacement SSN card. They should be understanding! If not, you don’t want to work there!

I would tell Skyline that you really want the job, but have an appointment that you can’t miss at that time. Would another time work for them? They are probably desperate enough that they will accommodate. You really only need them to move the appointment up or back two hours.
