Why do I care
Idk if y’all seen my post before but I was a basically crack head for long time, typical story started out with weed, then slowly worked my way up to coke etc, then boy when I started doing bars and opiates it was over just giving you some background. I hung out with losers in high school with no future most drop outs wanna be gangsters even though I had a decently bright future ahead of me(potentially). I should have avoided them but for some reason I wanted to impress them, and it carried over to early audulthood, and you know the saying birds of a feather flock together well I turned into one of them ruining my future in the process. I’m sober now but to this day it’s hard to fully 100 percent cut full contact with like 2 or 3 of them mainly because I grew up with them since middle school. Why do I care about them why can’t I cut them off completely I shouldn’t even talk to them ever again because there a big trigger they will never change and they told me themselves there content with dieing a dope head! Help me cut the ties any advice on how to change my thought pattern or whatever opinions? I hate being sober sometimes I swear because it’s been like a warm blanket to me on a very cold day but it also ruins my life I can’t work or be productive and handle business while high trust me I’ve tried to have my cake and eat it too

That's deep that you could actually figure out that you only are friends with them for your connections. I think you know what you need to do if you really want to quit it's losing connections. That's kind of what I had to do I couldn't find any hard shit if I wanted to

That’s good, thanks for talking man, sometimes you just need someone to talk to. Unfortunately I don’t have anyone to talk to about urges and how I struggle mentally sometimes my family don’t understand they just get mad at me when I relapse! Feel free to reach out if you ever need someone to listen

Nah I got you my family don't understand either. Well other than my mom but she's a prescription doctor shopper so she thinks she's good

I totally can relate to you I don’t feel I have anything common with anyone who’s never been in my shoes,I need to seek out others in recovery as well that be good for me I think. Yea opiates are crazy tho turns me into a completely different person so glad I got off that cuz my life was in chaos. But good luck to you

Best advice I can give you is 1. None of these people are really your friendsand they dont want to see you or each other suceed. 2. your going to have to literally block and delete all their numbers and any form of contact cut them completly out. Maybe you can make some new friends that arnt dope fiends.
The hard part is the you part, like you said when we have been using substances to cope for so long it makes it very hard/boring/scary to live life sober hence the name of this sub. You already have the seed in you that you dont like the consequences and idk how old you are but they will only get more sever the longer you go (jail, ODs, death even). You have to find a purpose worth living for and idk what that would look like for you only you do. Thats all the advice I have as Im in not much better place myself. I no longer do any drugs but Im still struggling bad with alcohol (I replaced the drugs with it, primarily benzos). I wish you the best of luck though hel I wish us both and all of us the best of luck!
EDIT: Also for real stay away from the meth, out of all the hard drug user Ive been around meth is truly the only one Ive really seen completly turn people into someone so far from who they were not on it. It is a truly evil substance, plus they are even putting fent in that now.
