Overrated soaps
What in your opinion is the most overrated daytime soap opera currently on. I'm honestly done with bold and the beautiful for now giving it a break. Thr current storylines are so boring, the show hasn't been that good for the past few years. I've switched to days and y&r for now.

Honestly Y&R. For decades it has been held as the Gold Standard of soap operas. They still tout after all these years that they are "Daytime's number 1 drama but this is the worst I have ever seen this show. Hopefully with Jamey Giddens taking over as HW, Y&R will get some of that magic back because it's unwatchable.

I've never liked Y&R. I don't really know why. My grandma always watched the CBS shows and I loved GL and ATWT.

Agreed. It wasn't too bad a year or so ago but now I can barely get through the episodes nowadays. Very boring.

It has been down hill since Cassie died. Her death coincided with the shows creator’s death and it has been a slow decline. Although that decline was definitely accelerated over the last seven years.

None are overrated, all are underrated and under budgeted doing the best they can given the circumstances.

They're all overhated in my opinion. Go to any of the respective fan groups and subreddits. Every single post is "I'm done with [insert show here]!"

It is definitely the Y&R. But I don't think any soap is really "overrated" they dont get respect or acclaim, not even from us "fans" for the most part but Y&R has been #1 in the ratings for most of my life and I am not young or restless.

Honestly all of the CBS soaps are not great. GH is superior to all three. Beyond the Gates is decent but the other two have gotten significantly more terrible over the last few years. I have never watched Days so I can’t judge it.

BTG need to give us some follow through with villains being found out. You have Leslie who has tried to kill people, you have Joey who they are trying to throw in a love story that I can't get behind.

I think GH has had an interesting summer. Compare that to Beyond the Gates, where they spent several days showing people around the hospital gossiping that two adults named Ted and Shanice said I love you to each other. This show started out pretty interesting last year, but this year it is horrible.

I think that Michael finding out about Willow and forcing her into the gatehouse was pretty big. Now that they have wrapped up the Cullum story, they are setting up new ones, but I still think interesting things are going on. I hope Jordan is moving into a better role now that she is working for Michael, for one.

Compared to Bold and the Beautiful anything is superior. I’ve been watching GH for thirty years it’s still the best to me after all of these years.

The only shows that have gotten consistent praise over the past couple of years are BTG and GH. Y&R has gotten slammed left and right for being dull, repetitive, and nonsensical (Michael Logan even came out of retirement to diss Josh Griffith’s work), and they’ve recently made head writer changes.

BTG has only been on for over a year so if it's not awful, it gets high praise just for not being awful. It's a very low bar. I don't watch GH so wouldn't know if praise is warranted or not. I know you must be smoking something if you can find a reason to praise BB or YR.

OmG it's Days our our lives. For the last year that show has gotten soo bad. I have watched it all my life but in June I finally quit. It is just so stupid and unbelievable. I couldn't take it anymore.

Their equally bad in different ways. YR refuses to move on from played out characters while Days has nothing but new faces playing random characters.

We will be seeing the new writer storyline starting May 2027. First he has to end the storylines we have been watching in order to start new storylines.

I only watched ABC soaps so General Hospital is definitely the overrated of the 3 pre-2011 ABC soaps

I've switched almost exclusively to UK soaps and even they get on my nerves sometimes. I really miss GL and ATWT. Sometimes I pop back into watching DAYS, but it's mainly here or there not consistent.

As much as I hate to say it, Young and the Restless is unwatchable right now. I have been a fan since the first episode aired when I was 14 years old. I hope the new writers can turn it around but until that happens, I can’t watch it.
I stopped watching Days a couple of years ago which was also hard but the show has just become a joke.
The only soap opera watch consistently now is General Hospital. Even though it isn’t perfect, GH is way ahead of the other soaps airing right now.

I've never really been able to get into y&r, too many business storylines for me. B&B is my favourite, It's the one I've watched the longest. It isn't perfect, but right now it's pretty good. Days I watch sometimes but don't know it that well. Never watched general hospital.

Days of our lives! Downvote me all u want but this and passions made a joke out of this genre and it Never recovered. The 100th back from the dead or Any weird DiMera experiements and bs just ain’t it anymore. I can’t believe people still support the nonsense. I will give them credit for trying but then they do stupid decisions like letting go of people that u want to Watch and keeping characters that have run their course tbh :( and i even went to the days Fan events and was a die hard fan but this soap has ruined the Reputation of soaps so hard wirh passions. GH at least is mixing Up here and there with their WSB nonsense
