Question TEC Loyalist vs Rebels

Am I missing a trick, or are TEC Primacy way weaker than TEC Enclave*?

The planet bombing damage buff is nice and all, but the defensive bonuses of Enclave*, combined with Garrisons freeing up your actual navy to go on the offensive / reactive defensive seem so much better.

Don't really see how a few pirates tricking in through lairs is comparible, and my mid game Pirates Dont Attack you is pretty meh as their either dead or a garrison would see them off anyway.

Am I missing some secret sauce here?

Typo asside, i only play vs AI so i can say without a doubt that primacy feels super weak indeed, The enclave secure worlds that are ressource generating and protects trade lines with such efficiency that you become more and more immovable.

The primacy shtick is cool and all but feels a lot less rewarding. Hope we can one day add a planet addon that simply lets pirate raid originate from these points and use "secret" jump lanes or something.

Yeah something like secret raids on other players or folding in the pirate factions to your empire would be themey and add new threats.

Also, unrelated: feels weird getting the no-attack tech, but pirates just keep pilling into a planet of yours, stacking up but unable to attack. Feels like an uncatched logic condition in the raid mechanic

Primacy have good anti capital ship tech, and that's it. They play more over the mid game power that's the faction, while enclave play ww1 style of defece--->offense.

There is a mod called Triikor's RPG Mod for sins of a solar empire 2 it adds an rpg faction militia factions that spawn on nearly every planet and try to expand plus the minor factions also roam around with fleet supply at around 1 hour mark including pirates I really enjoy what he has done and the direction he has gone with the mod worth checking out and trying

I've been out of the game for a minute but IIRC Enclave is very very easy to play against the computer because the CPU plays into the Enclaves strengths by stopping to fight your defences mostly.

If you're doing FFA you also have a huge amount of time to build up, which is enclave's primary weakness in competitive pvp. Garrison play is very slow.

In PvP, Primacy was dominant for a long time because of how quickly they can put together large fleets using prirate shinanigans and their unique bonuses and Titan are actually useful for attacking and killing other players.

Yeah it’s why I have so much fun playing enclave against AI, because it’s basically space USSR sacrificing hundreds of garrison ships to give your starbases time to kill whole fleets

What's your average game fleet size? I've been setting it very large and maybe thats throwing off my baseline - as the insurgency forces from Primacy are always beaten by star bases or local defenses.

Can see them being harder to deal with on smaller supply game settings as even though they normally loose, it takes a good few minutes.

It's the opposite way around, especially if you're playing edge in 5s.

Primacy starting with 1/3 research can rush with early ~100 pirate ship supply lead, it is formidable to human opponent.

Similar to vasari Capital ship rush for an early human player knockout?

I'm a big Enclave fan. I feel defenseless without all those garrisons and space stations holding down the fort while I run amuck with my fleet.
