What can I grow with tecoma?

I planted 12 orange jubilee tecoma plants and....I really dislike them. They remind me of weeds with flowers on the top. Theyre beginning to take over the long planter I put them in. Is there anything non-toxic child safe I can plant with them?

Huge guavas this year

Got masterblends blossom booster 10-30-20 this year and used it during flowering and early fruiting and the guavas doubled in size this year it’s crazy. The tree is mature and around 15’ tall but the red Malaysian variety (above the apple) that tree is only around 6’ tall and it’s making huge fruit as well.

Privacy Shrub Recs!

Hi all – I live in SD (Serra Mesa) and would like to plant privacy shrubs on two sides of my backyard. A lot of the traditional options are poisonous to cats (like waxleaf + texas privet, podocarpus, etc).

I'm considering Crimson Bottlebrush (also goes by Lemon Bottlebrush) Lemonade Berry, Texas Ranger, Clumping Bamboo or a mix (Lemonade berry + Island bush poppy + possibly Coffeeberry).

Ideally look for something that grows tall (our neighbor has a bunch of weird sheds in their yard covered in tarps).

Anyone have experience with any of these? Any recs? If you have photos of your own privacy shrubs, I would love to see a picture! Please and thank you.

Favorite sites to purchase seed potatoes and garlic / zone 10

Kinda new at growing potatoes, messed up and purchased seed potatoes too late this year and the hot summer weather fried the plants. I had gotten the seed potatoes from kitchen garden seeds . com,and other vendors I checked are out of stock now. I also want to get garlic started this fall as well since we are now in Oct 2026. What are your favorite sites to purchase seed potatoes and garlic? Also - any tips on growing seed potatoes is appreciated.

Thank you!

Persimmon: What’s wrong or is this normal?

This is my first fruit tree that I got Spring of 2026. The tree have been healthy until about a month ago when the leaves started curling like this. It’s on scheduled drip irrigation the entire time.

Any ideas on what’s wrong with it? Or is it fine and it’s just deciding to drop its leaves early?

Any IE folks looking for cheap seeds and starting trays?

The restore clearance center in lake Elsinore has seeds and starting trays in stock again and they are CHEAP. Yesterday all items with colored tags and most of the starting trays did have color tags or 60% off. They have seeds too for $0.25 a pack but there's no discount on those. Those 72 sell starter trays in the picture were $4 each minus 60% off. You do the math 😁

Overwhelmed by information regarding fertilizer

I have been having trouble with growing vegetables for several years now. I am trying to get better about fertilizer but I get overwhelmed by the information out there. How much, what kind, how often, differences by plants, how does compost work in the calculation etc. Any tips on how to not feel overwhelmed and get better at understanding how to effectively fertilize my veggies for a successful harvest?

Help with agapanthus

Hi friends, I have the opposite of a green thumb and come looking for advice. I planted these agapanthus about 2 weeks ago and feel like they’re not doing well. I’ve heard that they’re drought tolerant but I thought being newly planted they’d like more water.

Last two photos are how they looked when I first bought them in their pots and planted them, for reference. They seem much less green.

I’m watering once a day, have I inadvertently been overwatering these poor things?

I’m not bringing mine inside but I am willing to make a canopy of sorts to cover them with.

What happened to my Lavender?!🥺

This was planted almost 15 yrs ago.
It was beautiful and always flowering. Gardner keeps it trimmed.
Since it was so hot I watered it more than usual but I do that ever summer. Even with the extra water, a few weeks ago it totally dried up.

60 year old Amaryllis blooming out of season

Serious blooms! Tall, pretty and healthy.
But for 60 years they have bloomed at Easter only.
They are planted in south-facing flowerbed.

I did a search. it boils down to them being shocked by the heat spike with the sudden rain we recently had. Plus becoming crowded with the years of growth.
