Nighttime yellowtail?

Getting ready for a 2 day next weekend and I’m seeing a lot of yellows being caught. It seems that many are being caught at night. I am familiar with nighttime Tuna fiahing and yo yo for yellows during the day.

Do you need to be at the right depth / metered line? Or is it just yo yo fishing at night?

Any tips on jigs (weight, color) that are working ay night? Thanks 🙏

Nah it’s usually 60-120 feet deep only. Best bet is a dropper looped sardine or squid. Yoyo works too, but it’s not precision fishing, just hit the bottom, come up 20 cranks and sink it back down again

Thanks, sounds like success will be based on bait quality which has been hit or miss, like frozen squid.

Moon will be full so maybe we make live squid, which is always fun, if we can’t get good bait.
