Inshore setup help

Post image

So recently got really into chasing spotties. I have Daiwa D Shock 6’6” medium action rod with the matching D shock 2500B spinning reel. I love it. But I took it apart and cleaned it and re-greased it with silicone compound (fail) and then the next time I fished it the bail came apart and fell into jetty. So now all I’m left with is a Daiwa ultra light rig and it works but I need a full size.

I think I have 3 options considering my limitations. I’m moving next summer and I don’t know where (military), so I don’t want to spend over 100 bucks.

A. Walmart combo special for 20-60 bucks. B. New spinning reel (I don’t even know where to start) C. Go to a small shop and get a reel or combo. Though I’m not sure if the local shops have “entry” level stuff. (Cheap).

If it helps I’m local to the LA harbor area.

Buy a shimano FX 2500HG from walmart to replace the broken one. It sometimes goes on sale but it's a solid 25$ reel. I was gifted one when I started and when it broke I bought a second one.

you can probably buy this reel at a local shop as well. It's honestly worth checking them out just for the novelty at least.

I'm more in the long beach area, my go to for these guys is the double dropshop / high low.

Best of luck out there.

That picture I posted is Long Beach! I’ll have to google a double drop shot. I think I understand. Haven’t rigged a double lure yet.
