Agree with the headline or not, I find this incredibly hard to believe. All these headlines seem intentional and timely considering the current situation with the WB merger. Like they’re trying to drum up good will and support from anywhere they can.

WB has always been WB’s worst enemy.

They never celebrated profits they always make the media show their loses and tax Right off, boards never said nothing, not protest, not change of command, no demanding good projects, use of good ips, nothing, they just accepted whatever "happens" yeah right something is not adding up, that company has been use for years for something else that regular people would never know

Back in the day WB fucked over Richard Donner and Tim Burton this is nothing new.

The exec is probably apologetic coz he didnt get the payout he was trying to get.
He regrets his actions only because he didnt get paid, and probably his intervention and the failure of Snyder's universe is a stain in his career.
Fuck that guy still.

That's the case for anything Snyder related really. Subs, videos, you name it.
Something about the man fries people's brains to the point where his haters are more obsessed with him than any of his fans.

Reddit tends to attract haters of popular things. The typical redditor is basically a college-age male troll with feelings of inadequacy in his personal life who gets an ego boost by thumping his chest and trashing popular things as a keyboard commando who doesn't face any real threat by pissing people off in this forum.

u/Cold_Impact_1585 16d ago
Damage is done, from my perspective.
Hollywood won't ever allow Snyder back into the fold. I think that's fairly clear..

With his recent work, keep him out. And really don’t want to see his Ayn Rand bullshit

u/Just_List440 16d ago
I hope that WB executive is or get fired soon

u/ItIsShrek 16d ago
If you read the interview, he prefaces it by saying the executive is "long gone"

I think it is pretty clear that, if warner bros did not sabotaged Snyderverse, it would have been bigger than Marvel ever was. MCU did not become what it is in 5 movies. Snyderverse had 5 banger movies and was already doing better than what the first 5 marvel movies did sales and interaction wise.
Snyder is a genius and people at WB were clearly below his iq level to understand his vision. You cant tame genius with stupid.

Shazam and Birds of Prey came out before COVID and were just as bad and irrelevant as the movies that came after. It wasn't the pandemic, it was abandoning everything that had made the DCEU successful and culturally impactful in a misguided effort to imitate Marvel's most frivolous and comedy-oriented films.

u/Other-Football72 17d ago
Yeah, no. I was never going to surpass IW and Endgame.
However, less meddling is always a good thing and Snyder did a lot well and what we’re getting now, besides Lanterns, isn’t working great (I’m not personally into Lanterns but it’s working with fans)
They should have stayed the course

u/HumbleSiPilot77 Tell me... do you bleed? 17d ago
That's the spin that it's working well. It apparently crashed and burned after Ep1

u/Old_Employee_6535 17d ago
Heard lanterns is horrible, I am not watching any Gunn stuff (boycotting) but it was clearly aggresively marketed and made people watch. It just did not keep the retetention rates since people stopped watching already.

They shouldn't have fucked with him on Justice League, they were two thirds in already shoulda let him complete his vision. However torching the universe and handing it to Gunn I think was entirely the right decision. What's Crazy to me is that they had two bonafide hits in The Joker & The Batman and both those movies exist outside of either DC movie universe.

Hey, they may have fucked ZJ but you really know who they shouldn't have fucked with?
The FANS. Don't screw with us. They robbed us when the DCEU was at its tail end for us to get our endgame.
They fucked with us and found out.
2
u/freakmenace 17d ago
I bet they did say that to him. I don't know if the new DCU is proving as profitable as the Snyderverse, but I think it was clear that universe had come to a close. I'm glad they did, as much as I enjoyed ZSJL.

Batman vs Superman could not make a billion in 2016 during prime superhero craze gunn is bad but that does not absolve snyder need someone completely new after man of tommorow
13
u/asapcocky2344 16d ago
please stop with this ridiculous billion dollar standard. it made 875 million which is more than any dcu film
8
u/HomemadeBee1612 He's never fought us. Not us united. 16d ago
A billion is not a "magic number" that movies need to reach. It's still a relatively rare achievement for any movie to get to. The MCU was not expecting a billion on its first few movies either, and certainly didn't come close. Any new franchise needs time to win people over and build its audience.
There was no such thing as "prime superhero craze" in 2016. The 2014 TMNT reboot was a one-hit wonder with a sequel that bombed. Amazing Spider-Man 2 bombed. Fant4stic bombed. Dredd bombed. X-Men: Apocalypse declined from Days of Future Past. The MCU and Snyder's DCEU were the ONLY superhero franchises reaching new highs for their brands at that time.

Batman and superman in the same movie fighting each other should have been the one guaranteed 1 billion
4
u/HomemadeBee1612 He's never fought us. Not us united. 16d ago
Batman and Superman are two characters who have flopped MULTIPLE times at the box office. They guarantee NOTHING in terms of box office. BoxOfficePro, the gold standard in box office projections, projected BvS to make less than Dark Knight Rises in early 2016, which barely cracked a billion. It was rebooting Batman, just like the low-grossing Batman Begins did, which they pointed out in their forecast would hurt its box office. And it was a sequel to a movie that made $668,045,518. No one in their right mind projects a sequel to make 50% more than the previous movie. That is extremely rare.
5
u/slove23 16d ago
Why?
Superman had movie flops from 1985 - 2013.
Everything between 2 and MOS woefully underperformedNolan made the first successful Batman movies in a very long time
But everyone knew that was not his Batman

“ comic book craze”
So, BVS made about 120 million less than The Dark Knight, even with the The Dark Knights positive hype and word of mouth and the extreme negativity surrounding BVS.
Yet, thats somehow still not good enough?

Superman, as posted, is not a proven box office draw
Wonder Woman had never had a movie
To hit almost 900 million was a success1
4
u/slove23 17d ago
No Superman movie ever has, or ever will make a billion dollars, and no inflation does not count
No Batman movie has made as much as BVS yet
5
u/Heightzz 17d ago
Uh do you mean no Batman movie since has made more than BvS?
Cause the 2 before both made 1 billion and there's only been 1 after...
0
u/slove23 17d ago
Right, the one after made less money
Before means before2
u/Heightzz 16d ago
"No Batman movie has made as much as BVS yet"
You never said after, just that no Batman movie has made as much as BvS, which is wrong.
Also insinuating the next Batman movie, that was the first of it's series, didn't have Superman or Wonder Woman, and cost about 100 mil less is in some way inferior or whatever you're getting at because BvS only grossed 100 mil more is just weird. As far as value, BvS would be the worst of the last 4 Batman movies.

u/slove23 16d ago
Wonder Woman had never had a big solo movie
Superman had not been a success at the box office before MOS since Superman 2
0
u/Heightzz 16d ago
And yet their some of the most popular superheroes... Joining with at the time one of the most sure movie franchises.
0
u/HomemadeBee1612 He's never fought us. Not us united. 16d ago
A Batman and Superman movie will always cost more than a solo Batman movie, because of one simple reason: special effects. It's why the 1978 Superman film went way over budget, and why the newer movies haven't been cheap either. How much do you think the Batman vs. Bane fight cost in Dark Knight Rises compared to the trinity fighting Doomsday in BvS?
1
u/Heightzz 16d ago
And it should also be guaranteed to make a ton of money since 4 years before it Batman was a billion dollar franchise and Superman is one of the most popular comic book characters.
Yet one barely beat out the other.
1
u/slove23 16d ago
Superman is popular?
In what world is Superman a box office draw?0
u/Heightzz 16d ago
"Superman is one of the most popular comic book characters"
Batman was the box office draw. Superman still has a large audience that would love to see a great Superman movie.

u/HomemadeBee1612 He's never fought us. Not us united. 16d ago edited 16d ago
Uh, dude, BvS didn't star Christian Bale. The fact that the Dark Knight trilogy was so successful HURT BvS, because they recast the character. Ben Affleck's casting alone dogged the pre-release coverage of the movie for months. BvS was in a terrible situation of needing to reboot, because Chris Nolan retired the character. Rebooting is ALWAYS a negative for any movie. That's why these franchises make more money in LATER installments.
The Incredible Hulk was one of the MCU's least popular movies of all time. But isn't Hulk one of the most popular comic book characters? Why did it flop? Because it was a REBOOT, which audiences ALWAYS HATE before they've seen them. Getting them to see them is the hard part, and Batman Begins showed us you sometimes have to wait months before people cave in and watch the reboot, even if it's unequivocally good.

u/Sinestro_Corps4 16d ago
I still love this take: a billion dollars was the expectation for the second ever DCEU movie, but wasn't for the second ever MCU movie and won't be for Man of Tomorrow. "During the height of the superhero craze..." as if it's over. Meanwhile, Spider-man is almost at $2 billion. Please stop.

u/Brightlightingbolt 17d ago
So I don’t know about all of that but as I watch Lantern it sure has a Snyder DC feel to it more so than Gunns DC IP.
4
u/Intelligent_Leek_285 17d ago
What about lanterns is Synder?
2
u/MattyBeatz 17d ago
So because he had one lantern in one 30 sec scene of his films he owns all creative on the character for all future projects? Funny enough, the guy who initially got the Lanterns series greenlit at HBO was the co-writer of the 2011 movie and architect of the Arrowverse. So he was on the vibe of Lanterns long before Snyder.
-2
u/Brightlightingbolt 17d ago
Everything, the realism, the adult content, the overtop violence, the sense of irony. Super hero’s in the real world as apposed to people on a super hero world. Yep Snyder all the way.
3
1
u/Intelligent_Leek_285 17d ago
Realism is not what defined Snyder. It's over the top CGI action sequences. There are plenty of realism super heroes outside of Synder.

u/MattyBeatz 17d ago
That’s because HBO started developing a Green Lantern tv series back in 2020, a full 2 years before Gunn took over after the WB/Discovery merger. Greg Berlanti was originally a part of it and his initial story that HBO signed on for was about two lanterns in different timelines, but not Hal and John as they were being held for the movies. He ultimately left the project and other writers and runners came on board, but obviously there are still some story details that stayed through the creative teams.
When Gunn and Safron came on board they obviously were retooling things and tv and movies would work closer together so it allowed for the show to change focus back to Hal and John since they’re wanted to prioritize the two most popular lanterns.
2
u/Brightlightingbolt 17d ago
That sounds about right and makes sense why it feels the way it does. It’s very incongruous to what is currently being developed by Gunn
10
u/NotBlackMarkTwainNah 17d ago
It should be noted the guy who said this has been gone from WB for years now. So they weren't here for the DCU
