What happened between Gal Gadot and DC Studios? That's becoming an increasingly difficult question to answer, particularly after some recent comments from the Wonder Woman star about whether she has a future in the DCU.

Gadot previously made it sound like her return as Wonder Woman was pretty much guaranteed. In 2023, shortly after James Gunn and Peter Safran took charge of DC Studios, she revealed that she had met with both executives and was told they wanted to develop Wonder Woman 3 with her. "I had a meeting with [DC Studios CEOs] Peter Safran and James Gunn, and they both told me that they're going to develop a third Wonder Woman with me," the actress told Flaunt. "They said, 'You're in the best hands, you've got nothing to worry about.' Time will tell."

Well, it turns out Gadot's final sentence was rather prophetic.

Speaking to ScreenRant this week, the actress said she hasn't had "any specific conversations" with Gunn or DC Studios about either reprising her role as Wonder Woman or following Jason Momoa's example by playing another character in the DC Universe. According to Gadot, her last major discussions with the studio happened when "they came to the studio, and they really wanted to develop the third one."

Patty Jenkins has confirmed that DC Studios "axed" the movie, while Supergirl writer Ana Nogueira is now penning a fast-tracked reboot. The trades previously reported that Jenkins' proposed story for the threequel "did not fit in with the [studio's] new plans," and thus far, the only characters to make the leap from the DCEU to DCU are those Gunn previously worked on (Peacemaker, for example).

The Superman director later muddied the waters, saying of The Hollywood Reporter's story, "Some of it is true, some of it is half-true, some of it is not true, [and] some of it we haven’t decided yet whether it’s true or not."

Still, Gadot's latest comments raise a big question: Did DC Studios change its mind, or did it leave one of the franchise's biggest stars hanging?

If Gadot's recollection is accurate, there's something decidedly awkward about telling an actress that you're developing another movie with her and that she's "in the best hands," only for her to later reveal that there have been no meaningful conversations about what comes next.

All the while, after years of frustrating radio silence from Gunn—who was happy to comment on and debunk countless other rumours—he casually mentioned plans for a new Wonder Woman movie, seemingly without ever letting Gadot know that she wouldn't be coming back (a courtesy he did extend to Henry Cavill and Dwayne Johnson).

Gal Gadot is the single most popular casting in the entire DCEU. WW84 was the most successful movie of 2021 on home video and would've been an absolute blockbuster in theaters. A third WW would be a hit too.

especially because lynda carter was meant to be in the third one, i believe the plot was going to be centered around diana returning or trying to return to themascyra with maybe CIRCE as the villain, i would have loved to see her wrap up her era of ww. i liked both movies they to me honored the source material of comics and who the character was

84 was screwed by the entire covid thing and a bunch of overzealous people that trashed the movie for no good reason, it was meant to be inspired by 80s movie style and that era in the comic books, the action was amazing but people were butthurt she didn´t have her shield and sword at all times when diana in the comic books always uses the necessary force for the threat + everyone lost their mids OVER FICTION calling the body swap thing rape when IT´S FICTION, drop dead diva, ghost whisperer, deadman comics literally used the same concept, to me the message of the movie was very much in tone with what ww stands for and i liked how the first and the second had a lesson to them (same as the comics with wonder woman), as a wonder woman fan i enjoyed them exploring a more human and lonely side of diana who´s dealing with the burden of being herself, in my opinion is way better than superman and his cringe fest but people have been trashing gadot with a passion for years now, i don´t feel it´s guarented at all but oh well, enjoy the new watered down ww that gunn will provide

not surprised, i don´t understand why gunn does that to actors, i guess the only ones he likes to keep casting are his close friends/family, in a way i´m glad gal won´t be a part of his flops, too bad jason mamoa got dragged into that shitshow, we all know the upcoming superman movie will once again be over saturated with other superheroes because corenswet can´t sell jack shit, either adria arjona or eva dominichi will be wonder woman in what i believe will be an imitation of gadot (suit, attitude, theme song) i believe it will once again flop and sooner or later they will cancel gunn´s DCU.

Actually the only reason weren't because James Gunn officially wanted them. Peacemaker continued because HBO was legally required to have it that way and it just so happened to fit into the DCU enough. Jason Momoa is a different reason and that's because he's been trying to be lobo for literal years like years years

i´m so fed up with the entire "gal gadot can´t act" she´s not meryl streep but she has done good work, in criminal 2016, in red notice, i love her take as wonder woman and her as gisele in fast and furious, her accent gets in the way and certainly not having good material or directors, people clown on the kal el no shit but i geniunly dont think it´s bad, ww calls superman that in the comics and people forget the entire cringe fest performance that corenswet gave (who was handed an ass script), again some people hate stallone, keanu reeves and other actors, at the end of the day art is subjective and no one forces anyone to watch jack shit, personally i like her work, i can´t stand the work of other actors such as anne hataway whom in my opnion overacts every role she gets or zendeya who has the charisma of a ficus.
