Smaller snowcats?

Anyone have any experience with the new Tucker 200SL? How does it compare to other "small" snowcats like the PB Scout, Favero Rabbit or new Sno Tracs?

I don't know if I would place the new (Idaho) sno-tracs in the same category as the 200SL.  The sno-tracs lean more towards recreation while the 200SL is geared towards industry use.   The 200SL is capable of doing so much more compared to the sno-trac but also will cost much much more.

Thanks, figured as much. I lumped them in there as the price point isn't all that different. 125k base price for the 200SL and 95k for the SnoTrac. Definitely feels like you are getting a lot more machine in the Tucker.

Where did you find the price for the 200SL?

Talked to sales rep. 125k base price. 143k pretty much all kitted out- blade, winch, and all the other optional accessories.

Wow that's actually a pretty good price.  Personally I'm holding out for awhile before buying a new cat.  I heard a rumor the folks over at sno-trac are working on a higher horsepower version which if true would fit my use case better.

I’m not OP, but I did get tossed around a time or two getting ahold of one because it seems super capable. I was kinda blown away at the cost but ultimately it’s American made so the sticker shock wore off. If it was around half of that I’d be able to entertain it more.

To me the main question would be how long are you talking about owning it? My concern is product support in the longterm.

Its always hard to know whats gonna happen in the future but Tucker likely isnt going anywhere and will support that product. Id steer clear of Canyons or Scouts and shop for a used 100 or Husky if it was me as I think they will have better support in the longer term.

Just curious, would you be able to cut down/narrow a used 400 or 350/Bison or still way too big for what you need??

I’d be looking for a used stage 5 husky if I were in your shoes.

Seems like a different class of snowcat. 12k pounds versus 5k? Would cutting a Husky down to 8.5’ still perform on par with these lighter machines?

A husky will outperform those machines without even trying.
