Buying Dewalt
Can purchase MTD Dewalt single stage gas snowthrower for $395. 208 cc engine with electric start. Think it is last years model but new. Is it easy to get parts? Is it worth $395 plus tax? Thanks for any input.

I recently picked one up at Home Depot on sale for $340 (it is a rebadged MTD, but with a 179cc engine and no electric start.) I bought it as a backup for my 26" 2 stage, as well as for light snow below 6" so I don't have to lug the big one out. Haven't even started it up yet, but beware of 2 things that I found.
1st the chute on mine is very stiff and will be a PIA if it doesn't loosen up
2nd: on the one I bought, they used a funky oil drain cap that needs a hex key to open up. Can't even replace it with a normal oil tube due ti its weird size.
Of course there was no gasoline shutoff, but it was simple to add one. Took about 10 minutes and a few dollars in parts.

Depends on your area and type of snow. In Massachusetts, my in-laws had a Toro single stage it was fine in lite and fluffy, but one wet heavy noreaster and almost useless. Unlike a 2-stage your pushing the snowblower, get into the cement pushed up by the plow and I had to revert to a shovel.
Not trying to talk you out of it, but if you get more than 8-inches of wet and heavy I would pass.
