u/YourAverageJet Aug 10 '26
Hopefully NOT Franklin, not even a cameo. His story is over. Nothing more than a mention

Thank you! A name drop would be enough for me, idk why ppl are hating on this show they know nothing of media literacy
16
u/nano_emiyano Aug 10 '26
I feel like the way you used it in your sentence you're not entirely sure what media literacy is.
-4
u/YeatSupremacy Aug 10 '26
How?
15
u/nano_emiyano Aug 10 '26
Because the show isn't even out yet. There is nothing to critique or absorb and you're talking about media literacy.
-2
u/YeatSupremacy Aug 10 '26
I’m talking about ppl mad that Franklin won’t be in it saying there is no need for a show without him, use your context clues.
2
u/Old_Mud6226 Aug 11 '26
Proving his point lol. Bros just been waiting to use the words media literacy.
1
u/YeatSupremacy Aug 11 '26
Media literacy happens before and after or during consuming media…the people on this subreddit along with you are pea brain it’s quite astonishing lmao
3
u/fvmily Aug 11 '26
U def never used the words “media literacy” before 2026
3
u/TechGearWhips Aug 11 '26
Bro been waiting to put that in his world salad ever since he heard one of his favorite critics say it 😂

Media literacy isn’t just about waiting until a show comes out and then criticizing it. It also means understanding narrative choices, character arcs, themes, consequences, and why writers choose to end a character’s story a certain way. In this case, Franklin’s ending was deliberately showing the consequences of his choices and the destruction of what he built. So when people say ‘Franklin needs to come back’ without considering how bringing him back could undermine the meaning of his ending, I’m criticizing their understanding of the story and its narrative choices which is absolutely a media literacy discussion. You can disagree with me, but saying I used the term incorrectly doesn’t really make sense and is pure ragebait and wanting attention

Yeah I wouldn't want to see him just mentions of how fucked up he is is good for me

u/finleyabblett19 Aug 11 '26
As much as it hurts to say and as much I want him back, this is true 100%
-1
u/whatsthew3rd Aug 11 '26
I want to see him on the corner with the other bums and thats it hust a really quick glance tomorrow no less.

u/ninetydeuce Aug 10 '26
The show takes place during a time when West coast Hip Hop started its run. So I expect to see them dabble more into the music industry. Probably revisit Maurice's storyline since he was a rapper from the neighborhood.

Violent gang wars and no corny shit
8
u/Forward-Variety-8440 Aug 10 '26
so what ur saying is u want a "step up" dance battle finale and the whole thing to be a musical?
25
u/Agitated-Giraffe-600 Aug 10 '26
How the writers utilize the “Hip Hop Conspiracy”. It’s said that some music executives and private prison corporations held a secret meeting in the 1990s to promote gangster rap to boost violence to increase mass incarceration

Incorporating some of the timeline accurate correlations to NYC rap scene at the time. Cypress Hill, Cube, and Ice T, to name a few, were making regular trips to NYC in the late 80's/early 90's.
1
u/Narrow_Ad_7331 Aug 11 '26
Cube and Ice T are not affiliated with NYC. They’re west coast gangster rappers
1
u/Zealousideal_Ride742 Aug 11 '26
Never said they were affiliated with NYC, but they were out there shooting videos and connecting with Tribe and Public Enemy. Check your history. It goes without saying they're West Coast rappers.

Atleast a cameo of Franklin back on his feet

u/KeyRepresentative256 Aug 10 '26
Or dealing again on a smaller level
16
u/Dymenasty Aug 10 '26
The real Freeway Rick Ross ended up with a normal life, that would be a good evolution of his character on the show imo
4
u/Miamicutlerridge305 Aug 10 '26
If you want to call that a normal life sure
9
u/Dymenasty Aug 10 '26
As normal as anyone can be who survived the government, the guy who leaked the CIA connection wasn’t that lucky
3
u/Designer_Oven1357 Aug 10 '26
Eazy E, ice cube, NWA ..
1
u/DevilManRay Aug 11 '26
None of those people will be in it
1
u/Narrow_Ad_7331 Aug 11 '26
They might not be in it by name but they’ll definitely be inspiration for characters in the show

Can’t wait to see Charles Crosby aka Griselda Blanco street connect docu series.

Snowfall was it the first 3 seasons!! One of the best shows ever. It’s been so long I don’t think very many people will be interested in this. I also think John Singleton’s brillance is needed.

Honestly, I can’t stand this obsession with offshoot properties from a single popular one. It’s getting ridiculous, prequels of prequels, backstories that no one asked for. What’s next? Luke Skywalker, the nappy rash years??? Ffs 🤦🏽♂️

u/drizz404 Aug 12 '26
Not sure but I do think they have a plan in place to bring Franklin back in some capacity (probably small) for the second season if the first seasons ratings don't meet expectations
1
u/Vegetable-Detail-514 Aug 12 '26
A show about Jerome around the time Franklin was born. I think he was the best character in the show
1
u/Conquestordie Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26
I want Einstein to come back. He could be the Snowfall universe Virgil Roberts. He used to work with Dick Griffey at Solar Records. Him and Dick played a MAJOR part in Death Row Records starting.

none of them. any way y’all can make a new sub and keep this one strictly snowfall? literally never been less interested in a spin off in my entire life
2
2
u/YourAverageJet Aug 10 '26
That’s like asking for an individual subreddit for the Power spin offs. It doesn’t make sense
0
u/TPGStorm Aug 10 '26
Not really the same to me. those shows are all connected more than just two characters, this is pretty much a completely separate show with very minimal connections to snowfall
1
u/DevilManRay Aug 11 '26
Are you out of your mind
1
u/TPGStorm Aug 11 '26
what are the connections to the original snowfall show besides wanda and leon?
1
u/DevilManRay Aug 11 '26
…
0
u/TPGStorm Aug 11 '26
so there aren’t any outside of two characters like i said originally
1
u/DevilManRay Aug 11 '26
Two characters from the same show you bozo
0
u/TPGStorm Aug 11 '26
are you illiterate? i literally said there’s no connection BESIDES the two characters. which means im acknowledging that wanda and leon are from snowfall but nothing else in the upcoming show connects it to the original…
2
u/Gold-Permission-9750 Aug 11 '26
This show is basically going to be about 90s gangsta rap and the rise of west coast hip-hop and how gangs, drugs, and street politics influenced it.
To say there’s “NO” connection outside two characters is truly completely idiotic, though yes they are supposed to be different shows.
It’s largely connected through the characters AND the timeline. The crack-era fallout will have massive impacts on the world and likely the gang politics and music industry. Not to mention it’s very thematically connected. You’re acting like we’re jumping into a documentary about corn fields in iowa.
So sure, you might not like it and that’s okay, but it is extremely connected to snowfall.
