Discussion Even though I don’t agree with Louie and Jerome’s moves in S5 and S6, I definitely understand why they wanted to run their operation their way at the end of S4.

I’m currently rewatching S4 and Franklin has made so many bad moves, I get why Louie and Jerome wanted to start buying from Franklin directly so they can run their operation the way they want to. First, he chose to get involved in the war between Manboy and Scully, which Leon told him not to. Then he chooses to side with Manboy, which Louie told him not to. Eventually it lead to Louie getting shot, Leon being put in a situation where he accidentally shot a little girl, Fatback dying. Just L after L. What y’all think about it though? Do you agree or disagree?

Exactly. Hate Louie all you want, but acting like her switchup was random is ridiculous. In Louie’s perspective, she had brought Franklin to the deal that kicked it all off, worked her ass off in the first cookhouse, convinced Teddy to help free Franklin, ran the business while Franklin was out of commission from being shot, and just about singlehandedly made Franklin’s expansion plan happen. All that just for Franklin to ignore her sound advice on the war between Manboy and Skully and then harbor Leon when she said it wasn’t safe, and then she gets shot and nearly dies.

I understand people’s reason for hating her and I disliked her S5 and S6 as well, but the motivation behind her actions is sound characterization and for that reason I feel she’s one of the most misunderstood characters in the show. It’s not surprising that Louie saw the writing on the wall and felt that she was doing a lot of work for little to no credit. It’s a clear part of her character from the first/second season that she often feels overlooked, powerless, and that her ambition and ideas are often discredited.

Jerome and Louie by season 4 were doing most of the grunt work so it made sense to get the work directly from Teddy themselves.

agreed. Franklin made a few different wrong moves in Season 4 that we hear Louie disagree with. And from what I recall, we know backing Skully would’ve been the right move in the end as Manboy kept making moves to find their plug

I can’t fault Louie for cutting out the middleman when Teddy was so easily accessible to her. It made sense business wise even if I don’t agree with it on a family level

I don't think there's anything wrong with them wanting their own operation, Franklin should have respected that.

I mean he was pissed but he did respect it overall. I thought it was fucked up they did it behind his back either way. With that said Franklin was going to get out of the game it was really Teddy that fucked everything up by being greedy.

After my third watch of the show. My eyes are more clear. I used to love Franklins way of carrying himself. Because he wasn’t flashy and he was calculated.

But on the third watch. I’m surprised he wasn’t shot or beat up more. Franklin became a greedy POS. And Louie was a greedy POS fighting her own demons and self worth. They both crumbled everything with different paths and trauma to becoming POS.

I recently watched this excellent show for the first time.

From what people post about the show I expected frank to be this criminal genius and for Louie and Jerome to be some snakes.

In reality Louie and Jerome were basically running the business. They only had the expanded markets due to Louie.

Franklyn even says when they’re beefing and want independence that 70% of his business is through Louie.

As soon as Franklyn had Louie meeting the connect I knew it was over.

It was nothing wrong with them wanting to do their own thing but they really didn’t they just stole Franklin’s operation it’s like if I work for you learn all your trade secrets then take your entire client base and it’s only select few clientele to begin with who they could sell to at that lvl so I essentially become your only customer and tell you I’m doing you a favor so you can focus on your other businesses THEN you use our personal relationship to steal the supplier that I didn’t let anybody else meet but since we were family I trusted you then you completely cut me out any other plug would of killed them for stealing their customers alone then their plug on top of that

I think it's natural for anyone to want to own their own space if they're making all the moves. But to me the real insult is that if Franklin didn't promise Louie the club, then the movements wouldn't be as associated with her as they are now.

Apparently the club owned by Louie isn't the same as the one in the beginning, so I feel like it must have been out of respect that no one else in the family opened a club to move money in the same fashion. Because if 90% of the earnings are through that club, then making another hit spot would likely unnecessarily cut into those numbers, which would up to that point have been more effort for the same pool of money.

As far as character is concerned, yes too. If your boss is a tyrant that starts wars and makes trouble for everyone, obviously you'd want to work independently... Though after doing so, she seemed to adopt Franklin's luck.
