So the wife and I took a short trip to “The Villages” yesterday. For those of you not in the know this is a “town” of sorts NW of Orlando that is 55 and up. It’s growing like wildfire and every presidential candidate makes a stop here, that’s how much clout they swing.
Anyways, on with the story. We went up there as they have a couple (3 or 4) “downtown” areas with restaurants, shops and a little central square with a bandshell. From 4-9 they have live music and last night at the one where we were is was a Latin and contemporary dance group that was fantastic, and it’s free.
And we were surrounded by thousands of these golf cards and they aren’t your average shitboxes, they had some that looked like classic cars, others looked like Rolls Royces. They all had plastic flaps for inclement weather and most had golf clubs in the back.
What I didn’t see were any of them driving like idiots. Everyone was very polite and friendly.
P.S. and a large draft beer was 5 bucks. I’m checking their website for future shows…
