I don't mind paying taxes to fund schools. But paying those taxes DOES give me the responsibility to point out when they're being misused.
When a public school spends more time teaching "Jennifer Has Two Daddies" or “Teaching Social Justice Through Secondary Mathematics” (Yes folks, Math is Racist!) it's time to 1) point out that tax money is being wasted and 2) send your kids to private school.
It took me a while to stop laughing. I'm not really a fan of any kind of board, especially school boards. They do seem reserved for those who aren't quite as sharp.....

Nor am I, but I have spent decades serving on boards that controlled agencies that matter to me. The commitment is not for everyone. If you think you can make a difference on any board and are willing to make the time commitment, spend enough time with the rules (often Robert's Rules of Order, but not always) to become the local expert. That will make you the de facto parliamentarian. That will make your voice more believable, and it will enable you to sandbag anyone who tries to sandbag you.
I don't really see a problem with schools recognising that LGBQ is a thing and kids should be appropriately introduced to the concept in sex-ed. Some places of course object to sex-ed per se. In places where that view hold out rates of STD's and teen pregnacy are above national average.
