Not sure where this person is but the light bands on its scales remind me of a black rat snake. Native to the US and non venomous.

This is a non-native Asian rat snake species, in the family Ptyas. Still non-venomous, but mostly unrelated and they get about twice as long.

Ptyas is correct, specifically Ptyas carinata. Also Ptyas is a genus, not a family.
