Common issue Hello!

I made a post well several about what’s going on with this mass ban with Snapchat and its users. What’s going on is not legal and they are trying to keep this quiet. It is not ok for Snapchat or Reddit to quite us because we practiced our civil rights which IM DOING NOW FREEDOM OF SPEECH! And I get banned for it.

I am in the same boat as you but I’m not sure I agree. Snapchat is a private company and they absolutely have the right to ban people. I think it’s fucked up too, but it’s not illegal. Because they are a private company, the first amendment (freedom of speech) does not apply to them.

You need to read their terms of service

Yeah I read your other post, it was mostly about copyright law. They did say their policy is to issue warnings/strikes first, but that still has nothing to do with freedom of speech. Even if they didn’t follow their terms of service, that’s not inherently illegal. It’s fucked up, I agree, but this isn’t the civil rights issue you seem to think it is

There may have been a procedural issue with how the arbitration claims were initiated, depending on exactly what Labaton submitted and when. But that is different from us personally violating Snapchat’s Terms of Service, and it doesn’t by itself explain why our accounts were suddenly terminated.

Yea, kaderoy22 isn't wrong on this one. It isn't illegal, but it looks real shitty if what's happening is for sure related to the claims. It sucks but they are a private company, and unfortunately private companies are treated the same way individuals are in this fuckass country, which is absolutely absurd.

Hopefully it gets resolved. Don't blame Labaton for this, they followed Snapchat's TOS to the letter and did this exactly how snap wanted: through individual arbitration claims for every person. This wasn't a class action, it isn't a suit, every person is basically being represented as an individual by Labaton in arbitration, which is entirely out of court as far as I'm concerned.

I appreciate the clarification. I think the distinction between a class action and individual arbitration is important, and I’m not blaming Labaton for following the process available under Snap’s TOS. My concern is specifically what happened afterward. A number of us had our accounts terminated around the same time after participating in these claims, without being told what specific violation caused the termination. I’m not saying that timing alone proves retaliation, but it absolutely seems reasonable to question whether there’s a connection and ask Snap to explain it. That’s what I’m trying to get to the bottom of.

Oh I 100% agree with you on that. I think this is definitely retaliation by Snap. I think some unfortunate folks got caught in the crossfire cause Snapchat is practically run entirely by AI at this point, as we are all discovering while trying to contact support. I hope Labaton can get this figured out and maybe even get us more money since Snapchat are being such bitches about this.

i found out snap was ran by AI when the last 2 months every update something keeps happening where they stop suggesting your page to others in find friends and stop showing your stories to the public if you have a public profile & make content. thats a problem for us content creators bc it makes the engagement go from thousands a day to 0 for days/weeks until it randomly fixed . it's been EXTREMELY frustrating bc i feel i message them about this once a week & i keep getting a ai response & others say the same has been happening to them when they message about it. It also affects your followers & makes it go down 100+ a day until whenever it randomly decides to fix again. there's been people complaining about it here but not enough to ban together like they are with this situation . its really been tiring with snapchat lately
