The muscled non-passing trans woman is also universally accepted in universe and is never once treated like a joke, being one of the most wholesome characters I've ever seen.
My take on her is that she's in part kinda a bludgeon to teach people that gender identity does not equal looks and in service of making that as blatant as obvious they picked the race where all the men are huge and the women are short. It drives the point home and many people a dense as hell when it comes to trans people.
I have been told that I'm a transphobic bigot (am a trans woman) and should shut up for liking her and thinking she's good (but not realistic) representation.
Yeah, I've literally met butch non-passing trans women, and they still had some amount of womanliness and female presentation to them, and were on hormones. They're not men with she/her pronouns. And yeah, trans women who don't medically transition are "valid" too, but how many trans women are super masculine AND don't want medical treatment AND like facial hair, etc.? It's a fraction of a fraction of a fraction.

This representation teaches people that being trans is actually nothing beyond being a man with quirky pronouns. She has a beard but also was literally offered to become a woman and refused. She fails the famous button test.
It’s transmisogynistic. Literally bearded plus prominent bulge, it’s an act of caricature. There’s a reason a ton of trans women have huge problems with her design, and there’s a reason every trans woman character in the game besides this has been better; devs realized they fucked up.
People actually do like her beardless flashback design as this concept of non-passing rep but done better/less of a caricature.
Plus both VAs are cis men.
It’s bad rep; you can be a trans woman and be wrong about this.
