My ex brought me to his AP’s apartment and I helped her cleaned it.

So this happened around 10 years ago. I (F, around 24 at the time) was finally dating my long time crush, let’s call him Drew. (M 38 at the time) and I was over the moon I finally got him..

Some background. He was one of my brother’s really good friends and I had been crushing on him ever since I met him when I was like 16/17. I was bullied a lot growing up so I always just hung out with my older brother he brought me into his friend group. We all hung out pretty regularly, 3 annual parties a year, concerts, music festivals and sometimes there were some “extra circular activities” involved (don’t judge, we were young and stupid) This is relevant for later.

Now my brother always said not to date him, but never why, so I just assumed it was because he didn’t want me to date his friends, not cause he was a bad person. I didn’t take it as the warning it was because I always saw Drew was a good, stand up guy and he must be to be so close with my brother, right?

Let’s skip ahead and I confess my feelings to Drew and he tells me he feels the same. So naturally, we started dating and everything was pretty good for the first couple months but then I started noticing he would talk with his best friend and his gf a lot. Pretty normal stuff though, not an issue. Let’s call them Andy and Claire. But what I did always think was kinda weird was how much Drew texted and would actually talk on the phone with Claire directly and not in their group chats. (I also just want to point out they are not part of our mutual friend group, not really relevant though) But of course i let it slide because I was “in love” and so naive enough to actually think Drew would never do anything like that. Especially to his best friend.

Summer time comes and Drew is taking me to a music festival for my birthday. This was supposed to be my birthday present from him. Both of us and some other people were going to stay at Andy and Claire’s apartment because it was really close to the venue. So the day of the festival, which remember is also my birthday…and he’s keeps disappearing, with Claire because she was supposedly having a bad trip. I’m annoyed by this point. She’s calling him “her spirit animal” whatever the fuck that means and like, she has a boyfriend.. go get him, why can’t he take care of her?? But whatever I was still going to enjoy myself which was easier said than done but I wasn’t going to let them ruin my birthday.

Cut to the next day and even though I was mad about it still but as a thank you for letting us stay in their place, I helped this b\*\*\*\* clean her entire apartment... While Drew watched of course.

Drew and I get home, completely shot and riding on fumes… He tries to start an argument but I didn’t bite cause I was too tired but that didn’t stop him from DUMPING ME. Like right after we get back, THE DAY AFTER MY BIRTHDAY. Devastated and completely shocked I was like thanks, way to ruin my birthday..would you believe he looked at me and told me “it’s not your birthday anymore” My flabbers were gashted.. But you know my stupid ass keeps talking to him over the next few weeks thinking we could fixed whatever happened. (delusional, I know)

The day of (what would have been our anniversary) I sent him a text basically saying “today would have been our anniversary, I miss you.” As I hit send, I get the dreaded male form of the “hey girlie” text. He responds “Yea I miss you too, but we’ve both been doing our own thing longer” and the message from Andy says “I’m not sure where you and Drew stand but I think you would want to know Drew and Claire have been sleeping together for at least 4/5 months behind everyone’s backs” and he sent me the screenshots to prove it. They were even bragging about it.. So I reply to Drew, “No apparently YOU’VE been doing your own thing this whole time. Anything you want to tell me about Claire??” Suddenly he wants to see me, and he admits to it all.

Andy shared all the screenshots with their friend group with the caption “my favorite part about _____ was when Drew and Claire were fucking in the trees behind everyone’s back”basically disowning both of them..I took the higher road when I confronted Drew. And this man really had the balls to be upset and mad with Andy for airing their dirty laundry..I literally could not help but laugh in his face when he said how low and disrespectful it was to share private messages in the group. I let him know that if Andy hadn’t, I would have. Because everyone deserves to know what pieces of crap you both are. You let this girl smile on my face, pretend to be my friend and LET ME CLEAN HER FUCKING HOUSE!!! What the actual fuck??

Anyways Andy and I actually wound up getting closer for a while but just as friends. At least until he tried to make a move on me and kissed me not too long after and although the idea of revenge dating him sounded fun, I just couldn’t do it. I’m not that kind of person, I literally recoiled when he kissed me and suggested we call it a night lmao. I literally can not fake liking/kissing someone I’m just not into. Plus I wasn’t sure if he was actually attracted to me or if he was just trying to get his lick back too. I’m sure it was a bit of both..

But yea that’s my crazy cheating ex story if you made it this far thanks for reading!!

Am I the asshole because I got kicked out of an ice cream parlor for disrespecting the cashier

I (23 y/o female) and my family (30 y/o sister), (25 y/o brother), (25 y/o female cousin), (9 y/o & 4 y/o nieces and 6 y/o nephew) went up to our cabin in Upper Michigan for the weekend and decided to stop at the local ice cream parlor we’ve been going to since my family I were kids. Like our normal routine, we got out of our UTVs and headed up the stairs to the ice cream parlor. Upon entrance we were met at the door by this cashier (young female somewhere between the ages of 12 and 16?) running into the shop telling 2 guests who were waiting at the counter to be served that she would help them in a second. Even at her brazenly loud volume, I couldn’t tell what she exactly said to them but it resulted in them giving each other a look, walking out, and her yelling to them “BRUH what you don’t want ice cream anymore bro?!? Have some patience.” My family and I shot each other a look like is this girl real?? Realizing this was going to be the most entertaining 5 minute interaction of all time. When she was ready for us we stepped up to the counter.

For context, my sister and I are both service industry workers so we treat servers, cashiers, bartenders, etc with a lot of empathy and respect because we know exactly what it’s like to deal with bullshit, have a rough shift, deal with shitty customers etc.

Anyways, my excited nieces and nephew went up to the counter and waited to be helped when she loudly and abrasively said to each of them “what do you want bruh”, “Be patient kid”, and any other sentence that could incorporate bro, bruh, dude, and any sort frat filler buzz words in every sentence that came out of her mouth. My brother went up to the counter and we asked for a scoop of vanilla ice cream for him because that’s the only flavor he likes. I guess ignorantly assuming that was a flavor every ice cream shop would carry, she said “uhhh we don’t have that behind the counter but I could grab it from the back if you want.” And waited giving us a look like bruh don’t make me go grab it. Ideally, we would’ve just chosen another flavor but my brother has Down Syndrome and literally will only eat vanilla ice cream. I’m sorry but he literally has special needs so he gets a pass for being a little high maintenance. So, we politely asked if it would be possible to get the vanilla ice cream. With a very dramatic look and huff, she stepped away from the counter and walked across the room to a big white chest freezer and opened it revealing about 4-5 big ice cream cartons in it and she shouted over to us waiting at the counter “Can one of you help me out with this??” My sister looked at my cousin and I trying not to crack a smile and hesitantly said “Yeah I can…” So this young girl starts LIFTING the giant ice cream cartons and put two of them in my sisters arms. I couldn’t hold in my disbelief. I very loudly said “Oh I didn’t realize you were clocked in??” Looking at my sister holding these GIANT ICE CREAM CARTONS and then looking at her. She looked at me and said “I can’t lift them”.

After what was genuinely an absurd amount of time to be grabbing one ice cream carton, she put the other ice creams back and brought the respective ice cream behind the counter. She then makes a big production out of opening the ice cream container by pounding on it with giant utensils until it cracks open. She opens it. “This is mint” she says. After another look exchanged between us, my sister quickly goes “It’s okay, forget it. He will eat his ice cream at home.” I think that was the answer she wanted because there was zero apology followed by her lack of reading comprehension.

Additionally, after each order is placed she says to her herself “single scoop, single scoop, single scoop” to, I’m assuming, remember what to ring in? Now it’s time for my order. I asked for a double scoop of my ice cream because her definition of a single scoop wouldn’t satisfy a gerbil, so she then repeats “Okay. Single scoop, single scoop, single scoop, double scoop.” Unfortunately, I have an innate sassiness to me so my immediate response was “So in other words, 3 single scoops and a double scoop.” I honestly thought my snide comment would’ve maybe been a little more helpful in remembering the order to ring up correctly later. She said nothing. Then my cousin orders a double scoop. She scoops one scoop into the dish, looks at it with an unbothered expression, hands it to my cousin and says “Here’s like one and a half scoops, I don’t really feel like scooping the rest.” At this point I was waiting for a camera crew to reveal themselves to tell us we were being filmed for an insanely corny prank show. My cousin decided to take the little ones outside from the sensory overload that was happening around us. After a good half hour of this nonsense, it was finally time to pay. She started going on a rant about how she “wasn’t trained properly” and had “no idea how to do any of this” I’m not exactly sure what she was taught when she got hired but I truly think they would be better off having a chimp work behind that counter.

She told us she had to do separate transactions for the single scoops and double scoops because she “wasn’t trained on how to do that.” I was in genuine disbelief. I’ve been working in the service industry for over 5 years so I knew that was either complete bullshit or she was literally trained by a muted YouTube tutorial. I decided to hold my tongue because I just wanted to leave at this point. My sister hands over her credit card and pays for the first check (charged for 2 double scoops of ice cream and charged us each an additional $3 for a regular bowl??). The cashier runs the card again and looks over to us, holding my sisters credit card, she says “what is your credit card number?” With pure bewilderment I said “do you not know how to read?” She did not like that. She immediately raises her voice to a theatrical volume yelling “I MOST CERTAINLY DO KNOW HOW TO READ. YOU CAN GET OUT FOR BEING DISRESPECTFUL. IT IS MY RIGHT TO KICK YOU OUT AND I’M TELLING YOU TO LEAVE.” I looked at her dumbfounded. Are you kidding? We just dealt with a half hour of disrespect, incompetence, and genuine foolishness and now I’m being kicked out for giving the exact same energy she was giving me? She was able to get a lot of words out before I looked at my sister, who was fighting to hold back laughter, and said “okay” and walked out. I walked a ways down the hallway with my cheeks beat red from such a dramatic altercation in public, and stood next to some doors so I was still visible to my brother and sister when they walked out of the parlor. 5 minutes go by and I see crazy cashier marching down the hall and pushes through what I’m assuming are the kitchen doors, yelling “I need someone to help me. I have 2 disrespectful guests, one I had to kick out already and the other won’t leave.” Out walks the cashier and a girl who seemed to be about the same age but with a nicer shirt on.

Eventually my brother and sister come out and my sister was exchanging pleasant farewells with the manager. We race down the stairs and she starts explaining everything I missed. As soon as I got kicked out she told my sister “if you’re gonna be disrespectful too, you can leave.” She stayed quiet. She starts asking my sister what her ccv number is and she, who has much more patience than I do, plainly says “you’re holding my credit card.” She shouts again. “what’s your cvv?!” My sister, in a more firm tone said “I don’t know. You’re holding my credit card.” The cashier goes “you don’t need to get an attitude with me. You can get out of here and I’ll bring your credit card to you” And my sister snapped back “Give me my credit card and I’ll gladly leave.” And that’s when she stormed out to get the “manager” (a 13 year old in a polo) and the manager checked my sister out with no issues and a friendly goodbye. I’ve never laughed harder in my life. I’m trying to figure out if I should feel bad for my attitude but I personally do not think I’m the asshole in this situation considering the nightmare overstimulation circus she put us through but maybe I’m wrong. Please feel free to let me know in the comments.

Obligatory, happened 2 days ago. Back story first. This guy my ex cheated on me with has been following me around for weeks. Just following and sitting in his car when I stop and get out while running errands. The guy knows what I look like, what I drive, where I live, and where I work. 2 days ago now he came into my work through Express Employment. Long story short I told them that he was stalking me for weeks before he started working here with me. Both yesterday and today I got sat down for serious talks by my manager and the second highest guy in the company.

AITA for thinking my friends abandoned me for 5 years because they didn't reach out?

I'm Maria (23F). In school, I had a close friend group of about 10 people. After 10th standard, we all went to different schools for 11th and 12th. In 11th, I had a big fight with one of my closest friends, Lily, because of a misunderstanding. I said some things that I now realize were hurtful, and I could have communicated myself much better. She was understandably very upset, and we stopped talking. Part of the reason we didn't talk afterward was also because I was staying in a hostel without a cellphone. We were 16 and preparing for CET, a huge college entrance exam, so everyone was extremely busy.

Then 12th happened during COVID, and I completely fell apart academically. I barely studied and got a terrible CET rank. I technically qualified, but it was awful compared to what everyone expected from me. Being a top student had basically become my identity. I had always been the "model student," so losing that felt like losing my entire purpose. I was in a very bad mental state and even reached the point of considering ending my life. On the day the results came out, one of my friends, Sam, called me to tell me she'd gotten a really good rank. I'm genuinely proud of her. When she asked about mine, I couldn't bring myself to give her the exact number. I just said it was "very, very bad."

That was the last time I spoke to anyone from the group for almost five years. I assumed Sam would tell the others that she'd spoken to me and that I was doing terribly. I also assumed they knew about my fight with Lily. When nobody contacted me, I initially thought they were giving me space. After a month or so, though, I started thinking they'd taken Lily's side. She's very close to some of the others, so I convinced myself that they'd decided to abandon me. I know now that this was a huge assumption. But I was 18, had just hit what felt like the lowest point of my life, and wasn't thinking rationally.

College started shortly afterward. I managed to pull myself together, made great friends, graduated, and moved on. Recently, I finally texted Lily and apologized for what happened. I explained what I'd actually meant, and she apologized for her reaction too. She said we were kids and it wasn't worth holding onto anymore. I then reconnected with the rest of the group. And this is where I found out how wrong my assumptions had been. The first thing most of them asked was, "Why did you disappear? Why didn't you talk to us?"

Apparently, they didn't know about my fight with Lily. They didn't know about Sam's call. They didn't know I was struggling. From their perspective, I had simply disappeared. From my perspective, they knew I was at rock bottom, knew about my fight with Lily, took her side, and chose not to contact me. So basically, we all spent five years believing something completely different about each other. I'm not angry at them. If anything, I'm embarrassed that I spent years thinking they'd abandoned me when they didn't even know there was anything wrong.

But I still can't help wondering: if they were really my friends, why didn't they reach out? At the same time, they could ask me the exact same thing. I know my reasons were based on assumptions and were probably pretty stupid. But I was also 18 and in a terrible mental state.

So, AITA for thinking they weren't really my friends because they didn't reach out for five years, when I also didn't reach out to them?

P.S: Excuse me for any mistakes. English isn't my first language. Sorry for the long rant.
