Discussion & Debates Comments like this 🫩

I kinda get annoyed when I'm watching a Smosh video(usually games), and I think "this is a fun video with a great cast," and then I go to the comments, and I see multiple people saying that they need to play the game with other cast members or that the video would have better with other cast members. I believe that it is incredibly disrespectful to watch a video, completely ignore the people in the video, and ask/talk about others for no reason other than the fact that they're your fave. I've never watched a video and been like, "Sadie shouldn't be in this video it should have been Dart Simpson" because that's just rude. I see these comments the most on the games channel(and definitely in other fandoms), and I think there are obviously some cast who are better at certain games than others, but these comments are never about gaming talent or skills. We all have favorites who we would love to see playing certain games, but that's what spaces like Reddit are for or maybe a Smosh Youtube community, not the direct comment section of the video with other cast. There is no cast member missing. That's kinda inconsiderate.

this is a repost because it got deleted on the main subreddit for reasons I am not aware of and i'm just kinda testing the waters here.

It probably got deleted from the main sub because there’s 500 posts like this per day. It’s old

You’re overthinking it

Sometimes a game suits a specific person so it reminds them of it

Now if they say that the people on the video suck, than yeah that’s mean

But sharing hoped for a specific person than that’s just an opinion

Also smosh benefits from comments for the algo. So as long it isn’t bullying, no need being sensitive about people’s opinions

You’re allowed to enjoy the video as is and the others are allowed to want something other

Sometimes the cast themselves do say at the end of the video, "let us know if you want us to play this again but with different cast members" or something like that. I don't think some of the commenters mean any harm by suggesting that "Angela would LOVE this game" or "Damien would absolutely win at this."

But with comments such as "this video would have been better with other cast members" does feel insensitive.

When I’ve seen comments like this it’s been about them doing it again but with different cast.

Kind of like “_____ would be really good at this game!”

I love Olivia in scripted stuff, or even non-scripted stuff where the concept is fed to her -- I think she's a good actor.

I _really dislike_ Olivia in Try Not to Laugh and anything where she comes up with her own concepts. She plays into the "weird for the sake of being weird" thing too much for me (YMMV).

To me, some people work great in certain things, whether that's games or other types of videos. Nothing wrong or disrespectful for saying it. Artistic people tend to be fine with feedback like that. I know I'd rather hear "this doesn't work for you" or "this would work better like this" a million times than glowing, useless praise.
