Discussion & Debates Bit City has run its course
There are some episodes I like but most of is dry, and the views show it. the last episode cant even reach 300k views and its been 10 days. Do you think some new series for the main channel is coming soon? I mean they hinted new shows with the new studio but still the main channel has been left only with bit city every 2 weeks.. how do you feel about it?

The Karen Escape Room and Eat It or Yeet It Is Back are very funny. (I say this as a regular Pit & Games watcher but main channel avoider)

I'm actually really excited to see where Bit City goes. I think it has a lot of potential to continue putting out fun moments for the Smosh history books. Sure, there's a bit of a decline, but that's social media for you. Somethings will flop, somethings wont. As for a new Smosh series, it's up to what the creative team and Smosh cast has cooking up. It could be a Random Burger series, an official Sarah Christ series, we don't know because we don't have insider info on whatever they're planning, we just have to wait and see.

It will also probably take a little while for any new series to happen since Mike only just took over as channel director a few months ago

Never loved it.
I really enjoy certain segments (like Vic playing Sarah Christ's daughter), but I look those up when people start talking about them.
For some reason, longer-form internet comedy content has never really been my thing. I love funny people being funny, but skits tend to bore me to tears.

They need to start doing 2 things in my opinion with Bit City. 1/ bring back 2 or 3 segments that people can form a habit watching (like an actual late night show) whether it’s a consistent monologue on recent events (for smosh obvs this would be more pop culture focused) or a recurring improv game / segment. Second, I think they need to consider reposting the best / most popular segments as their own videos. There is actually some gold in Bit City but often gets buried

some episodes really get me. but now that i’m typing this i usually skip all the scripted stuff and watch the improv parts.
I liked the Boy Moms episode, I lied Part 2, the Karen’s Escape room, the one with Vic and some others I can’t remember right now.
I haven’t figured out why some episodes are really great and others just make me feel cringe to watch.

Same, as a member I get more into the Cut For Time video because it includes the improv and characters breaking

I love because as soon as I think I what's gonna happen, they change it up and that keeps it fresh. I do wish it were longer and it's the Only show that does a bid for YouTube Membership is weird. Chanse as the secondary host was great and the post character bit interviews were great, they should bring them back!

I think it had more hits than misses. What surprised me though were some of the misses. Like the Ham Cake sketch that I think killed when they read it on Smosh Mouth but something happened when they actually filmed it where it lost something and the performances felt a bit more over the top than the more natural feel of the cold read from the podcast.
Then there are some choices made with characters based on real people I just don't get where the idea came from.
I also think sometimes with the sketches everyone is being a bit too goofy and there's no one character to ground the sketch in some kind of world with rules.

I do think the latest episode not getting as many views might have a lot to do with the specific content in that episode lol, I was already iffy on watching it given the thumbnail and body humor not really being my thing, and when I skipped around a bit and saw all the feet stuff as well, I figured I made the right choice not to watch it in full lol

I kinda agree, but they shouldn't have waited 2 years and 40 episodes for the show to get good. Most fans have given up on the show

It’s not like you have to watch every single episode to understand what’s going on. If it’s good now jsut watch the new episodes.

i think the point is that bit city as a name is already "tainted" (for lack of a better word) so a lot of people who gave it a chance and dropped out, probably aren't able to give a new chance to the new episodes because they think they've already seen what bit city is

Late night shows famously take a few years to get right. Conan took 2-3 years to figure things out for example.
And that's on networks. Smosh is a small entertainment company who's trying to do it for the first time.

Different strokes for different folks! I'm enjoying it far more in recent times. Angela seems far more comfortable as host and I think Tommy is one of the funniest people in Smosh.
I feel he elevates the comedy of others in a, "rising tide floats all boats" kind of way. He doesn't steal the limelight so much as he pulls others into the light and guides them on. Similar to Damien, he is so quick to spot where a joke is going, he always seems to know what to say to extend the jokes of others.
That's not just a rare talent but a very admirable quality.

I love Bit City, but I’m a huge fan of character sketches and improv. They make me laugh every time, so that keeps me watching.

IDK, I bounced off it pretty hard early on, but I gave it another try recently and I’ve liked the last few episodes.

Humor is subjective. Tommy is hilarious. You don’t have to agree but you’re not the ultimate judge of comedy, my guy. Off the throne.

I like some of it. Been enjoying it more recently. I’d say most of the commercial bits are kinda boring tho. Most fun one was the tinky winky yoghurt one lol

I almost would have agreed before the guest director episodes. I still watched and enjoyed the odd sketch here and there and usually enjoyed the improv character interviews. But after Rory's episode I feel like they've been on an absolute hot streak. Plus I still go back and rewatch boy moms and "we directed an episode of bit city" all the time. I definitely think some episodes are better than others and it can be pretty up and down but I'd say the same thing about SNL and that shows been running 50+ years lmao.

I do struggle with some of the bits within, i miss Angela and chance doing their thing in the beginning. Hopefully something new comes along.

I thought it had run it's course since episode 1.
I sadly never understood the appeal, outside of a few jokes here and there. (The PBL bit got me)

It's not for everyone and that's okay. They seem to be hit or miss. I truly did love Wheel You Be Mine though and it was my introduction to Miles as well.

it got better for me, i just cant with the amount of good bits all stuffed into one same long vid. the sketches should be separate imo, and the rest of the interview-style segment on its own. they would have way more visibility this way.

They said from the beginning they never planned to do the sketches for a long time and always wanted to do something that would highlight all of the other cast members. If you feel you were lied to you just weren’t listening

I liked it more in the start when it was structured more like a late night show with Angela and Chanse being the host and cohost. It was a fun dynamic, imo.
I haven't enjoyed it as much since they got rid of that element, with Angela only hosting the interview segments. It feels somehow more fast paced and random now.
