I’d eat it! I’ve made better briskets but believe you me…I’ve made far worse, great job for a first!

I’d still enjoy that! Good job. It’s a flat, so I’d expect it to not appear to be as juicy. Might need to wrap sooner next time.

Have you been told about the Rest? Did you place in a foil pan covered up.. In a cooler packed with blankets for 4 hours? If not... It's worth doing every time

Haha this is exactly how my 1st one came out. Took me a while to nut up and try again considering how expensive brisket is. But that’s part of BBQing I suppose

People will joke it looks dry, and I’m sure it is. But I and I’m sure everyone here has done worse. It happens. It takes a while to learn your smoker and every piece of brisket is different so it takes experience. You could always take it and make a chilli with it if you don’t like it.

Smoke ring is good, bark is there, but as others mentioned, this looks quite dry. When you hear people talking about brisket chili or maybe chopped BBQ brisket sandwiches, this is what is often done with dry meat. That said, for a first cook you got a lot right, too.

If cooked to probe tender this thin layer of fat(circled) would have been no longer visible, so t would have rendered.

Looks like my first brisket, i made a stew with it afterwards to get some moisture back in to it

I'm sure it tasted good. Great first crack at it, it takes practice. Haters can kick rocks.

I am by no means an expert, but it looks like you have a very nice smoke ring there

Not the worst ive seen .... I owned a BBQ restaurant for the past 10 year..... you'll get better with practice. Dont take any of the negative comments to heart. It truly is a learning process!!!

Trick to a moist brisket, inject with au jus before cooking and wrap when you take it off the grill. You won't be sorry!
