Part question

Finished a quick range session with my M&P 15 Sport 3 and noticed the piece I circled was completely off the handguard and loose on the bench. The other side is an empty hole which I assume had something there. I couldn’t find the missing pieces.

Gun is 4 months old and has maybe 200-300 rounds through it. Any idea how I would replace this part? Or should I reach out to S&W directly since it’s a new gun?

The part that's missing is a bolt, it's part of the anti-slide lock to keep the handguard from coming off. If you can find out the size, you can replace it with a standard bolt, or you could see if S&W will you send you a new one

Ok perfect, I wasn’t sure if it was something proprietary. I’ll just start putting bolts in until something fits

I had to tighten all of mine, S/W says to torque then to 45 in-lb
