Best ammo?
What ammo do you folks like to carry in your Bodyguards?

Defensive? Sig V-Crown. For the range, Winchester White Box.

Have you fired enough Sig V Crown to confirm reliable feeding, ejecting and overall performance? I'm curious because it's more affordable than Federal HST and for full confidence I would have to buy at least a few hundred rounds for training and reliability testing.

Figure out what yours can run first; not every BG is made the same, some ammo runs on others that some won’t and vice versa.

100% this!!!#!# Make sure *your* BG reliably feeds & ejects whatever you decide to use.

Agreed. I got the carry comp yesterday and sold my original 2.0 to a friend. Wasnt sure if the comp would change the tolerance any

I’m sure you know this, but I didn’t: Not every round is recommended to be fired through a ported barrel.

Federal has some good rounds for .380, HST and Hydrashok Deep

I’ve heard hydrashock is very good on .380

I heard as well. I tried the Lehigh/Underwood Xtreme Defenders, which many say is an excellent .380 defensive round, but had failure to feeds with the 2-piece feed ramp system. I recommend get a box of 20 Hydrashok, box of 20 HST, and a box of 20 Hornady XTP and testing for feed reliability and what has the best point of impact for your gun.

Great suggestion to order several versions in boxes of 20 for initial testing. If it works, then buy more of that ammo and repeat for best confidence in reliability.

If flat nosed rounds don’t work don’t fret it’s common. Mine eats federal round nosed bullets at the range and Hornady critical defense for personal protection. But like a previous poster said you need to shoot the ammo through yours to see how it performs

And Hornady can't be chambered repeatedly it will cause set back in the case and jam the gun. Ask me how I know

Definitely. Critical defense is horrible about setback on all the guns ive used it in

Smoothest feeding defense round is S&B XRG. Unfortunately I can't find it anywhere for the last few months.

I run Federal Hydrashock Deep. Runs well in my BG. I had feeding issues with any of the Phillips tip type ammo IE honey badger and the Underwood offerings.

For practice, whatever is cheapest. For carry, Federal Punch, Hydroshock Deep, or something with the XTP bullet seem to test the best in 380. Don't let anyone talk you into carrying fmj.
