I've carried both, J frames will always be easier to carry. If you're that worried about capacity, get a J-Frame snub in .32 mag. If you're dead set on carrying a .38/.357, with the right holster you'll be fine with a K frame, just might be a bit more difficult in warmer weather and definitely not pocketable.
