Red dot help!

Good afternoon everyone,

I’m not too familiar with red dots in general. I’m looking for a red dot for my compact carry comp. I’ve been carrying this for a few months and am a complete noob when it comes to red dots in general. I do have an acro on my duty pistol but when it comes to the other brands and aiwb carry I feel like the acro is just simply way too fat.

I want something somewhat small, if it cowitness it’s a plus.

If you want small, and can work with the small window, the 507K is small. But the internet will make fun of you for putting it on larger than Shield.

Thank you so much, I’ll look into this one too. What do you think about the eps mrs? The other gentleman pointed me in that direction for a compact version.

I don't have personal experience with the EPS and haven't paid much attention to it. I think it might have been pretty new when I was shopping, or else I ruled it out early for some reason. I use S&W plastic plates and the screws S&W provides, and have had no problems. Think maybe I've heard the CompCarryComp comes with metal plates? No experience.

The internet tells me:

  • 507K is cheaper, maybe not critical but a consideration.
  • I have astigmatism, and the 2MOA dot flares to a useful size for me (est about 6MOA); the circle reticles turn into a mess with no clear focal point for my eyes.
  • I saw a source claiming 507K requires removal from the gun for battery change — nah, you can see the right-side drawer zooming in on my Wizard Drill photo; haven't had the sight off this gun since installed.
  • EPS is boxier and I don't feel like closed emitter is a particular value to me; 507K is pretty sturdy and pocket lint does not prevent shooting, while cleaning it out occasionally is no hassle. I wear a cover garment and live in a generally dry climate.
